Hello,

We are Beatriz and Cláudio an adventurous, curious, and open-minded Portuguese couple with our hearts open to the world.
With the Work and Holiday Visa in our hands, we are embracing one of the greatest experiences of our lives in Australia! We want to explore the country as well as connect with locals and discover the magical Aussie lifestyle. We have been traveling through several European countries, but this will be our first experience overseas.

We love the sun, the sea, and the mountains, to meet new people with whom we can exchange experiences (ideas and food), play sports, wake up early, have our hands dirty, feel the morning breeze, and simply enjoy life.

We are good at hands-on work and if there is something we don’t know we are open to learning and giving our best, also, we handle desk-based tasks very well. We have some skills on our sleeves which we will be pleased to teach and improve.

Beatriz was raised in a small village near Lisbon, surrounded by vineyards and two steps away from the city. She spent her childhood playing soccer in the streets and being a scout. Passionate about human connections, animals, and nature, her greatest reward is to feel that she had a positive influence in the communities in which she is involved.

Cláudio was born surrounded by mountains but soon the sea brought him where he belonged, and it was love at first sight with an academic and professional path made close to the sea. His roots brought him to the land and some years ago he gained an interest in farming and started learning and helping his grandfather. Between the land and the sea, he finds his balance.

Quais são suas habilidades?

Beatriz

My academic path was developed in the economic field (BSc in International Relations and an MSc in International Economics and European Studies) where I had the opportunity to learn technical skills and improve my digital skills in MS Office, CRM Tools, R Studio, and Canva.

Professionally, I have experience in the wine sector: worked 1 year as a Store Assistant at the Lisbon Wines Shop promoting the Lisbon wine region (through contextualizing the viticulture background, introducing the various producer's projects, and wine-tasting experiences).

In the last 2 years, I have worked at the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency supporting agribusiness enterprises in their internationalization processes (through Exports and attracting Foreign Direct Investments).

When I was a student, I used to do summer volunteering at the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, in the areas of child and elderly care - Carrying out and supervising recreational activities with children and the elderly.

I also have experience as a Waitress and Bartender in fast-paced restaurants.
Being a scout has given me a strong sense of community, of being one with nature and the ability to quickly find solutions to problems that arise.

Cláudio

I have some computer-based skills (e.g., Microsoft Suite and R Studio), report writing, data collection and analysis, problem-solving, and calibration and maintenance of electronic equipment acquired through my BSc and MSc in Marine Biology and Academic research in Forest Engineering.

Working at sea gave me the opportunity to develop professional, personal, and social skills to deal with a harsh and demanding environment, maintain a good mood, and provide high-quality data (fisheries observer and onboard scientist).

Having worked as a Lifeguard I developed an instinctive sense of social responsibility and empathy with others.

Growing up in a butcher shop as a family business I have learned to cut and debone meat, customer service, sharp knives, and clean all sorts of tools.

For 4 years, I went to Germany every summer to work for a cleaning company, which gave me cleaning skills using industrial machinery (water vacuum cleaner and floor scrubbers) and maintenance services.

I also have experience in agricultural and forestry work, and as a bartender (Caipirinhas and Mojitos at your service).


We both love hands-on work and are keen on learning and helping with your tasks.
Although throughout our lives we have acquired different skills, some more technical, others more emotional, we believe that the greatest knowledge we can receive comes from the people we meet.

Empathy, tolerance, and honesty are the major social soft skills we consider to have.

Fortunately, we have inherited the skill of delicious Portuguese cuisine and we will be thrilled to cook some of our dishes and share vibrant flavors at lunch or dinner. Pastry is not our specialty but we never say no to a sweet.

We both have baby nephews and we love to spend time and take care of them. As dedicated aunt and uncle, we puzzle new ways to capture their attention, teach them new things and be their best playmates.

We love doing crafts, such as painting, macramés, and playing with clay and dough. Also, we would be keen to do yoga, board games, and sports together, running, cycling, surfing, playing football, basketball, volleyball, or any other sports you feel like doing. Music runs in our veins and although we don’t know how to play any instrument we know how to dance, or at least, we try to.

The care for the land is a big point of conversion between us and we are open to learning about sustainable farming and getting our hands dirty taking care of animals and plants.
We are always interested in knowing about the culture of the countries we visit, connecting with the locals, and sharing ideas and experiences accompanied by a good beer or glass of wine.
