Hi, my name is Jan. I am from the Czech Republic. Hi! I’m a Python developer and PhD student who decided not to spend my whole life in front of a computer screen. I love coding, but I also love nature, people, and hands-on work — so now I’m taking my skills on the road and looking to learn new things while travelling.

I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and enjoy practical, hands-on work. I’m used to a variety of maintenance and manual tasks, including basic carpentry, painting, small construction projects, and gardening. I’m happy to get involved wherever help is needed and can work independently, take initiative, and get on with tasks on my own.

At the same time, I’m a team player who enjoys working together with others. I’m flexible, willing to put my own preferences aside when needed, and always happy to support the team and contribute to a positive working environment.

My Skills and Experience

- DIY and Carpentry: I have experience with DIY projects and previously worked part-time as a joiner, giving me practical skills in woodworking, basic construction, and maintenance.

- Volunteering and Maintenance: I have volunteered in Kenya, Malawi, and Vietnam, where I helped with various practical tasks. In Kenya, I contributed to building small-scale infrastructure and painting. In Malawi and Vietnam, I helped with general maintenance, cleaning, wood varnishing, fence painting, and gardening, as well as keeping common areas clean and tidy.

- Project and Event Management: I have worked as an event manager for several crews and student organizations, helping to organize and coordinate events, manage logistics, and bring people together.

- Working with Children: I have experience as a teacher and have organized summer camps and recreational activities for elementary school children. I enjoy creating fun and engaging experiences for kids.

- Computers and Technology: I have skills in SW development including Python programming and artificial intelligence.

- Diving: I hold an Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) certification and an EAN40 certification.

- Driving: I have a valid Category B driving licence.

- Languages: I speak English fluently and have beginner-level German and Spanish.
