Descrição

Hello, we are Tom and Billa! Right now it's only Tom though, as Billa is occupied with her university duties. Last year, we spent six weeks traveling through South America and took a break from uni to take our camper van around Europe for three months.

Tom has had his first experience with Workaway last summer in the North of Sweden, where he and Billa helped renovating an arts centre and a private home. He only started to travel much over the last year and he's eager to make up for what he missed before. As a scout leader, he knows his way with fire, camping and tents, sewing, etc. He occasionally writes songs and accompanies them on the guitar and harp and generally likes anything old: architecture, records, cars, stories, etc. Over the past months, together with two friends, he rebuilt an old garden shed in his hometown and came to love woodwork.

Billa already did three Workaway stops in Portugal, Switzerland and Czech Republic by herself, where she helped planting and harvesting, took care of animals (mostly goats, chicken, cats and dogs) and spend some time hay making (by hand). Additionally she worked in a zoo for a year, so knows a lot about animals and loves the work with and around animals. She studies Forest Science and Worldliterature and therefore loves plants, especially trees, and books. It's hard to find her not carrying a knitting project.
Both of us love playing card and board games and making music and art. We hike and read a lot and enjoy time spend outside with good conversation more than partying.

We like to learn every new bit of language we are able to. Billa learned Spanish in school for three years, but apart from refreshing it in South America, her knowledge already fades. She is learning some French and Norwegian right know just by myself. Tom only speaks English and German so far, but he acquired enough Spanish skills in South America to go grocery shopping ;-)

Quais são suas habilidades?

Since Billa worked in a zoo she can do hard physical work, knows how to take care of and treat animals right and how to clean stables. She grew up with cats and hens at home.
Billa works with her father, a gardener, a lot, so she is able to do gardening tasks, cut down small trees and chop wood.
She also loves to make art and learn new languages if this may come in handy.
Tom can do physical labour as well and grew up helping out in the garden so any work with plants or agricultural task should suit him. He is also capable of learning how to work with mechanics or electricity and could adapt to such tasks quickly.
Both of us are always looking to learn new skills and very flexible.
