Descrição

We are two danish girls who are currently having a few gap years, after graduating from high school in 2023, where we got to know eachother as classmates. Our current plan is to stay in New Zealand for 6 months. The first 2,5 months we will spend travelling around New Zealand. Afterwards we would like to experience the daily life in New Zealand by staying at different families through Workaway. After having travelled around New Zealand in a faster pace, we would like to slow down and get our own routine. We’re looking forward to meeting locals and seeing New Zealand from another side, beside the tourist side.

What motivates us is the opportunity to learn about foreign cultures and share our own. As well as exploring the beautiful nature of New Zealand which is very different from the nature we have here in Denmark.

A bit about both of us:
We love being social with friends and family and we are always looking forward to meeting new people. We both like to be active and do different types of sports especially outdoor activities. We are not afriad to get our hands dirty, and are ready to do more challenging and physical work.

Quais são suas habilidades?

We are both used to being physically active in our everyday life. We are used to helping around the house, doing different types of chores and tasks.
We are adaptable, flexible and resilient for changes and different surroundings.

Svava:
I have been a swimming teacher for 4,5 years (from when I was 15-20 years old). I used to teach the age group 5-10 years old how to swim, but I have also taught competitive swimmers ages 9-12 years old. In my first gap year I worked as a waiter for a shorter period. I have previously worked in a nursery for a month and afterwards in a kindergarten for nearly a year.
As a side job, I have worked as an TRX instructor at my local fitness center.
I have been volunteering as an instructor on a self help course for young people dealing with anxiety and depression because of my interest in psychology.

Amalie:
In my first gap year I worked in a small local nursery, as an assistant.
I have previously worked at two different restaurants. At both places, my role was to cook in the kitchen, as well as serving customers and keeping the restaurants clean.
In addition, when I was 18, I got a temporary position as a marketing assistant at the danish furnishing company “Boconcept”. Here my role was to edit photos of their products, before they were posted in the company's social media.

One of the things we like to do together is putting our phone down and go for a long hike in nature and get of the grid and take a break from everyday rush.
We both love the fantasy genre especially the Lord of the Ring movies and the Game of Thrones series. We like to cook a nice meal and see a good fantasy movie together.
