Steve and Judy were very warm-hearted and welcoming. We enjoyed our time here a lot. We helped with some painting, moving firewood and cleaning up the café garden which was nice. We enjoyed the dinner we had together and the recommendations they gave us to explore the surroundings! We highly recommend staying with them :-)

My experience with Veerle was impactful in ways that I am still unable to fully measure. She was an amazing host from the moment we met until the day I left. Even before I arrived in Belgium, she was caring and considerate. Veerle is a practical, intelligent person who leads an organized life, which makes it easy to learn a lot from her. Her house is comfortable, spacious, and tidy. The daily chores are manageable and quick, truly only requiring 2-3 hours a day. She has a beautiful, independent cat that requires sitting when she travels. Her family is lovely as well; if you have the chance to meet her sons, you will surely have a great time. This is the perfect place if quality time is your priority. You can participate in cooking, meaningful conversations, movie nights, or DIY projects. As a host, she is direct and transparent, providing honest feedback if something isn't being done properly. She also gives you plenty of space and is very flexible if you need time to travel or explore. She truly understands the perspective of a young traveler who might be abroad for the first time :) Last but not least, she is a top-tier cook! She is tied with my mother, so you can trust that her food is delicious. Veerle loves Asian cuisine and will definitely introduce you to spices. Get ready for incredible meals and a great learning experience if you enjoy being in the kitchen. She encourages you to step out of your comfort zone, both in cooking and in life! Thank you, Veerle! You are one of the most special people I’ve been lucky to cross paths with. Thank you for being patient and understanding with me. I will never forget how meaningful our time together was. See you next time! Big hug from Brazil <3

We really enjoyed having Beate stay with us for a week. She is a willing and capable helper and a pleasure to have in the home. An added bonus was that we learnt a bit about Austria. I would highly recommend Beate to any potential hosts.

I had the pleasure of hosting Dan during his first Workaway experience, and he proved to be a great guest. Dan is polite, cheerful, intelligent, and well-mannered, making him a delightful presence. He approached a variety of tasks with enthusiasm and efficiency, showcasing his capability in every job he took on. Dan also had a wonderful rapport with my 4-year-old grandson, keeping him thoroughly entertained and engaged. He was tidy and respectful throughout his stay, and showed a keen interest in Australian and Tasmanian culture. We will certainly miss his positive energy and contribution. Good luck with your future endeavours, Dan! Stay in touch and come back anytime! I hope your adventures are filled with excitement, minus any encounters with pesky huntsmen!

I had the pleasure of hosting Constantin for a couple of weeks, and he truly is a Workaway veteran with a wealth of experiences and fascinating stories to share. He is polite, well-mannered, humorous, and an absolute joy to be around. Constantin showed incredible eagerness to work, proactively seeking out tasks even when there was nothing assigned. He also impressed us with his culinary skills, whipping up a delicious soup and a couple of fantastic lemon cakes! I admire his unique approach to travel—embracing a slow pace and letting the winds guide him, always prioritizing genuine connections with people and local cultures over trendy experiences. Thanks for your visit and good luck with your future adventures, Constantin! You’ll have to return someday to chase that elusive Tasmanian devil in the wild!

I stayed with Carine and Ricardo for a week in 2023. It was my first volunteering experience and I enjoyed it a lot. The food was amazing and the land is super beautiful. Usually there would be a few hours of work (working on a shower house, removing roots, cutting trees) and then you would be free to do whatever you want. It's a short walk to the beach and they provided us with surfboards and helped us to catch some good waves. I stayed in a tent, so you would spend most of your time outside, which wasn't an issue at all in summer. They are really lovely and I enjoyed my time there a lot!!

Soumaya is a truly great person and a joy to have around. She gets along very well with everybody and brings a lot of positive energy. She is cheerful, entertaining, and naturally lifts the mood of the whole place. She is a real perfectionist — not because she has to finish a task, but because she genuinely enjoys what she does. Whatever she takes on, she does it with care and to a very high standard. Soumaya is also an outstanding organizer. She cleaned and organized the house with incredible attention to detail — she even organized my own room so well that I barely recognized it afterward. She is extremely practical and efficient. In a very short time, she manages to accomplish impressive amounts of work, always calmly and effectively. I truly hope she comes back again and stays for a longer time. She would be an asset to any host.

We had a wonderful Workaway experience for two weeks with Margo and Pearse’s family. From the very beginning, Margo and Pearse made us feel like part of their lovely big family. They are beautiful, warm, generous people with such open mindsets, and we truly felt like we were spending time with our own family. Margo is an incredible lady who has a special way of making everyone feel valued and cared for. She always made sure all the Workawayers were happy and having the best possible experience. She included us in everything she was experiencing herself. We shared amazing cacao ceremonies, spirituality retreats, and unforgettable winter lake dips followed by sauna sessions. Those are some of the best memories I’ve ever created. Conversations with the family were always interesting, as they are all well-travelled and knowledgeable about many topics. We mostly worked with Pearse, and his guidance was wonderful. He is a a true gentleman with great patience, kindness and gentle attitude. He allowed Workawayers to manage their own time and way of working, while always being there if we needed anything. We really loved having his presence around us. They also welcomed our big dog, Bolt without any hesitation and he absolutely enjoyed spending time with the family just as much as we did. Regarding the work, they were always very considerate and flexible, checking in with us about what kind of work we were comfortable doing. Nothing was difficult, mostly cleaning and tidying inside the house and around the garden, along with a bit of gardening like weeding and pruning. It was a nice mix of tasks. Shreyas helped with bit of driving (drop off and pick ups for kids) We also cannot forget their beautiful two daughters and son. They are young adults and among the most respectful and mature kids we’ve ever met. It was such a joy sharing meals together, especially since they enjoyed our cooking. We also loved making new friends with the two other Workawayers we met during our stay. We were given our own cabin, which was spacious, cozy, and had a lovely fireplace to keep us warm. We would highly recommend this beautiful family to anyone and will forever cherish the memories we created with them.

I was very glad that I could spend my first workaway with Amel and Bertrand! They are a very welcoming family living in the Laurentian Mountains. In the beginning of every week, we would make a timetable for the upcoming week. My tasks where mostly to do homeschooling with Sylia and to look after both of them (=play together). We did a lot of fun things like dancing, crafting, singing, playing in the snow and we even made some short movies together. Sylia and Timi have a lot of positive energy and are open for all kind of activities. Other than that, I usually unloaded the dishwasher and tidied up after the (delicous) meals. I really appreciate that Amel and Bertrand enabled a lot of "sorties" to Morin Hights, driving me there or picking me up. Morin Hights is the next village with an amazing cross-country ski network. Can't wait to see them all again!

Stef was a fantastic Workaway host! From the moment I arrived, he made me feel very welcome and at ease. He is a really funny and warm person who took a lot of care to make sure I was comfortable and happy. He is a great cook and very knowledgable on all kinds of ferments, his kitchen is also super well-equipped which made cooking a delight :) Stef explained tasks very clearly and thoroughly and gave me a lot of freedom to work on what interested me. I picked up lots of new skills and was always entertained. His house and the Morvan region are just beautiful, so peaceful and filled with nature. Those endless pine forests will stick with me for a long time ! His pets are wonderful company too, so sweet and loving, and his kids are inspiring and creative. I would recommend him strongly and will keep wonderful memories of my time here

Christina was a big surprise for me. Her personality is relaxed and easygoing, and she was able to adapt well to all tasks, handling even the “not-so-fun” ones with lots of motivation, a great attitude, and joy. She helped us tremendously during this fragile time! She is also very radiant and always has a kind smile on her face—you simply enjoy having her around. Whether for adventures or just a quiet evening with tea. My daughter LOVED HER! And Christina took such loving care of her, with so much creativity and joy, and above all, true presence. She is a wonderful young woman—very interesting, sincere, adventurous, talkative, and hardworking. I could truly write so many good things about her, and all I can say is that she is an enrichment for any Workaway host. We are so happy to see her again, and she is always welcome here! Thank you, dear Chrissy, for the beautiful time we spent together and for your help! It was a great pleasure for us. And never forget: MERAKI! That’s the most important thing in life, and you live it ;) Lots of kisses from me and Naila 💋💋

I hosted Eszter and Jordan for some weeks before and again after Christmas. They are lovely people to have around. A really great help. They helped with many of my regular yard tasks and this gave me time to catch up on other tasks. They also did lots of extra tasks that I just couldn't find time to do. Every where looked better/ more tidy and organized. They are easy to have around. Punctual, tidy, can work on own initiative . Capable of many different tasks. They would both be a great addition to many different types of work. I wish them the best in their futures.

Ambika has been a wonderful volunteer!! She came to help with a large mural art project, and I have found out. over these past 3 weeks, that she is a patient, skilled, and joyful painter/artist. She shared the guesthouse with another female voluteer, and it was beautiful to watch them get along so well and take care of the kitchen duties, and other small household tasks. Ambika is a calm and vibrant young lady who is willing to try her hand at the activities that are presented to her. I am very glad to have met her, I'm sure that she will continue to give her best in any circumstance that she decides to find herself in. A big hug to you, Ambika! We will remember you and your sky-frogs for the many years to come.

Tatiana and Benjamin were wonderful volunteers and truly lovely people to host. They lived with us with great love, respect, and openness, and quickly became part of our family. They were very friendly, social, and always happy to join us in community and social activities, which created a very positive atmosphere in the house. They worked very well with our students, especially during the English classes. The students really enjoyed their presence and felt comfortable learning with them. Tatiana and Benjamin were patient, kind, and encouraging, and both the students and staff learned a lot from them, not only in language skills but also through cultural exchange. Beyond their work, they were easygoing, positive, and brought a lot of joy through simple moments like conversations, games, and shared time together. Their attitude made a real difference during their stay. We are very grateful for the time they spent with us, and we strongly believe they would be excellent volunteers for any host. They are always welcome to return, and we would be very happy to host them again in the future. We highly recommend Tatiana & Benjamin.
