We are a small 5 acre farm just 10 km out of the Mountain town of Methven,
Focusing on organics and sustainable farming practices we are developing our farm to become as great of a resource for our family as possible, for this we try and produce as much of our own food as we can through the running of a variety of animals including our little calf, 2 House pigs with piglets, 10 sheep and chickens.
We run these for meat and also as our fertilizer rotation through our 2 acres of orchard and little market garden.
We preserve a lot of what we grow to help us through off season and produce juice from our apples and vegetables..

We would like to invite you to be part of our daily life running a small scale organic farm focusing on producing for us rather then just income, help assess challenges and come up with clever solutions.

We are looking for travelers who are enthusiastic about this sort of small scale intensive sustainable farming, who are happy to be part of the development of the property and general daily maintenance.
We are asking for 4 hours of help a day ...The help which needs to be done will be varied between feeding and care of animals, Garden weeding and planting, firewood splitting and stacking and generally a bit of everything that is required to keep a small family farm charging along!

We are a family of 4, Both Sarah and I (Mosi) have 2 social little boys (Asher 10 and Flint 7) so you would need to be ok sharing a space with children who will be itching to get to know you !
The area here is very beautiful hosting many sunny days in both summer and winter.
We are not far from Mt Hutt and Rakaia gorge which have some great Bush walks and mountain Biking! while Methven township is super friendly with some great cafes and amenities.
It would be beneficial to have your own transport as we are 10 km out of Methven and there is no public transport system.
We are a non smoking household so for any smokers we just ask that you respect that when on the property and keep it out of the house.
