Staying with Zoey, Hope, and Naomi was not only my first workaway experience, but also one of my first NZ experiences, and boy did it treat me well! I stayed with them for 2 weeks and had the most fun time getting in tune with my younger self when hanging out with the girls (crafting, playing music, goofing off). I also loved the peaceful
… read more environment, their tranquil garden and lovely home provided me, allowing me to escape from the hustle and bustle of hostel life! I wouldn't trade my time with this family for anything, and will definitely be coming back to visit! I couldn't recommend this workaway more! ps. I have to acknowledge just how incredible of a mother Zoey is, juggling so many things, so beautifully! Her daughters go to show this strength and they are just as incredible and so so bright!

I really enjoyed my stay in Mangawhai! The natural surroundings were lovely, and spending time with Zoey and her family was a delight. We have been delighted to host and get to know Rike over the past two weeks over the autumn school holidays. From the outset, she fitted very easily into our family and connected with our girls aged 12 & 10. They have had a lovely time at home together crafting, playing games, swimming and connecting. Rike is an amazing cook, was helpful around

Zoey, Jakob, Hope and Naomi were my first Hostfamily ever, and I couldn't have gotten a better one. I was so nervous, but they welcomed me into their family with open arms and open hearts. The girls were lovely, the food was great and so was the atmosphere. Highly recommend Zoey's family, especially to first time travellers.

First of all, thank you so much for accepting me and an amazing time!!
I stayed with them for a month on January and I already miss the time of jumping in the pool with the two girls at 8pm, dinner time, and naughty lambs...

… read more asked them to stay a few days before, they welcomed me warmly and made a space like at home for me.
This was my first workaway experience and I don’t know how I could help them, give cultural experience, and meet their expectations.
However Zoey asked me all the time whether I feel comfortable, made amazing dinner everyday, and tried to understand what I said in poor English.
It made me so relieved.
Jacob took the girls and me to the beautiful beaches and town even it was work time.
I love watching the time with him and naughty lambs.
I was so surprised how smart Hope is when we played board games!
Also she is really good at baking especially apple crumble...that was really good‼︎
Naomi is so creative and I like her drowning and origami.
She is so good at hiding and prank on me!!
I really enjoyed swimming in the pool and beach in the evening,scaring each other, and origami time...
The work itself is not difficult at all!

… read more us she looked after our girls aged 9 and 7 and had plenty of patience with them. She enjoyed biking, playing board games, walking and also swimming with the girls. Although the weather was very temperamental while she was in Mangawhai she always found activities and things to occupy both herself and the children. She worked longer days than expected and was always helpful and friendly when it came to getting other household chores and tasks done. We throughly enjoyed meeting Julie and hope to keep in touch with her in the future. It was another very positive workaway experience for all. Thank you again Julie, you are a super star!
