  Hi, we’re Astrid and Tono, living on the beautiful island of Karimunjawa with our two children, Sophia (6) and Alfie (3). We own the island’s only solar-powered guesthouse, Astrid is a dedicated Yoga teacher, and we run an educational charity here too.
  
  We are looking for a nature-loving, kindhearted couple (or skilled solo traveler), to help enrich our children’s lives here on the island and assist with some of their daily tasks. English is a must as our children are bi-lingual (English and Indonesian), volunteers must have good experience driving a scooter, obviously have a natural affinity with children and a creative streak to keep them entertained.

  Workawayers can fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty that the island has to offer, as well as learning about conservation efforts on the island and deepening their personal yoga practice. Volunteers will also be contributing to the promotion of eco-tourism, off-grid living and mindful living.

  Ajuda

  Both our children attend our nature-based, bilingual preschool, and we need help with the school run. Our youngest Alfie, finishes school at 11am, and our daughter Sophia, an hour later at midday. We ask our Workawayers to pick the children up from school and give them lunch (can be provided for, or if you have cooking skills, please feel free to help), and then entertain them either at home or out and about. We are looking for travelers who love to play outside (we also have 2 dogs), can go exploring with the children, or play games and read books with them in the house.
  
  Our children have quite different styles of play (although they both love swimming and exploring outdoors), which is why a couple is preferred to satisfy both their needs. However, if there is a solo traveler who may fit the role, we are more than willing to consider. The longer the traveler can volunteer the better, although this highly depends on the compatibility with our children, so we do kindly ask for a week trial first.
  
  Any music (including singing), gardening, martial arts and dance skills are all very welcome.
  
  We have hosted Workawayers throughout 2024 to help establish our permaculture garden (still very much in its infantile stage…) so any experience or passion for gardening is very welcome, as we have 5,000sm2 of land, and would love to make it more child exploring friendly.

  Acomodação

  We offer a simple double room with a fan and private bathroom in town with access to a kitchen. This accommodation is different to our family home. We offer a scooter to use for the duration of your stay.
  
  We provide supplies for breakfast, and lunch is included. Workawayers can join our yoga practices as a compliment when possible and take out of kayaks when not in use too.

  We have kayaks at our guesthouse which are free for volunteers to use. There is a live coral reef surrounding the guesthouse, a turtle sanctuary and white sand beach all in the same bay. Workawayers can also yoga practices when available, as a compliment.
  
  Island hopping trips are the most popular activity on the island, along with beach hopping, mangrove trekking and a general exploration of the main island. There are also camping and diving opportunities.

  Pucci (5 meses)

  Adopted from the children's grandma's house, this kitten is fearless and sleeps anywhere in any way!

  

  Tiger (2 anos)

  Born at home and lost both his siblings, mother and bestie to wild dogs (this was before we got our own dogs), so he's a massive home body. Spends most of his time sleeping (on the bed), because he's not meant to sleep here, so of course he loves it!

  

  Frankie (1 ano)

  A rescued jungle puppy. She's very gentle, not so brave! Loves swimming in the stream by our house and eating raw egg to keep her lovely coat thick and lush.
