😊 Hello, I’m Eilis,
I recently moved to a magical piece of land between Lagos and Aljezur, about 26 minutes from the nearest beach. It’s peaceful, with a lovely old well, and a winter river, olive trees, cork oaks, fruit trees and horses nearby, a semi abandoned village and an ancient burial groud nearby. I share the space with Maya the friendliest dog and independent cats Fritz, Molly, Flora. I can offer simple accommodation set in the beauty of nature, solar power, fridge, freezer, hot shower, washing machine.
January 20th onward a stonemason will come so if anyone is interested in learning to do dry stone work and repair the upper wall of a 90 year old well please do contact for January. I’m also looking for a house sitter in January so please contact for more details. For the right person with a kind heart, knowledge, references and a sense of humour and compassion also , long term stay could be a thing.
I enjoy sharing good conversation about life, purpose, natural law and how we want to show up in the world.. I’m a trained midwife and work with women and children, offering support around birth, babies, and early life. I can also teach some Portuguese. Im interested in all aspects of life and curious about people and love to share stories.
I’m building a small off-grid homestead . Im Looking for self-motivated, upbeat people who enjoy meaningful, physical work who want to experience what it is like setting up an off-grid home. There’s plenty to do — clearing brambles, pruning and trimming trees. I need help with clearing and pulling out the slash as I cut it out of the river bed and the verge. Burning the slash and cuttings is happening soon.
I plan, with a local builder, to build a pump house, Eventually I will rebuild structures with hemp block with a very experienced permaculture builder and when the land is prepared I will be planting a food forest. That is the overall plan 🤗. I have been in Portugal many years and have experience with Permaculture building and gardening and much more.
The work is satisfying, hands-on work that suits people who are physically fit, enjoy being outdoors, and like to see the results of their effort at the end of the day. We will uncover many interesting aspects of the land as clearing continues.
My diet could be described as high protein, low-carb.

Accommodation is basic and wooden but very functional. There are couple bedrooms.

Amazing walks in the mountains amoung indigenous cork oaks and modronho, Horse riding, Going to the sea , meeting people in the area aljezur and Lagos are close by car, learn some Portuguese, meditate, relax, share food, conversation and sharing .
