    Descrição

We are a small horse farm nestled in the beautiful Ecuadorian Andes, just outside the town of Cayambe, about 1,5 hour north of Quito. Our farm is surrounded by mountain scenery, fresh air and wide open spaces. Life here is simple and closely connected to nature and animals.

Our property is home to 13 horses, 3 friendly dogs and the daily rhythm of country side life. We are looking for a volunteer to help with general day-to-day farm tasks. Tasks include caring for dogs, helping around the house and farm with general maintenance and assisting with taking care of the horses.

We are looking for independent, practical and reliable volunteers who enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Below tasks will be adjusted according to your interests, experience and skills.

You will be working alongside me and our 2 local workers Guido and Andres, your tasks may include:
    * Caring for our dogs, feeding, cleaning, taking them for walks and spending time with them
    * Caring for the horses, grooming, moving the fences, feeding, filling water troughs etc.
    * General maintenance around the farm and fields (fencing, weeding, watering etc.)
    * Small repair and maintenance tasks depending on your skills
    * Keeping the farm tidy and organised.
    * If you are interested in gardening: we can use help with setting up and maintaining the vegetable and herb garden.
    * We are always looking for ways to make our farm as sustainable and self-sufficient as possible. If you have experience in permaculture and eco projects like recycling, repurposing, composting, water filtration etc, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in hands-on projects on the farm.

The help is varied and the days can be long and we try to keep the schedule flexible because life on a farm depends on the weather, the animals and ongoing projects. You will get 2 days of per week which you can accumulate and spend exploring Ecuador (Amazon, Cloud Forest, Volcanos, etc.). We ask for a minimum stay of 1 month and are open for longer term stays.

Please note this is not a horseback riding volunteer position. If you have a lot of experience with horseback riding and you are able to school on horses English style, riding can be possible. But if your main reason for joining us is to ride horses every day, this is probably not the right place for you. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy rural life, animals and contributing to the daily life of the farm.

It’s important you are independent and responsible, comfortable around dogs and horses, happy living in the remote countryside, flexible when plans change, willing to help with a variety of practical tasks and don’t mind hard work. We especially enjoy hosting mature and older volunteers who often bring a lot of life experience, practical skills, and wonderful stories to share. We love hosting couples and friends.

If this sounds like the kind of experience you’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you. Please tell us about your interests, skills and the dates you can come.
