Help with my building project and language practice near Pedrogao Grande, Portugal

  Hi. I am Alex and originally from the United Kingdom. About 18 months ago I fell for a property in Central Portugal, a few kilometers from Pedrogao Grande. It had been uninhabited for over a decade, consisting of two houses (four bedrooms and one bedroom), some outbuildings and about an acre of land. It's very peaceful but also close enough to pretty towns, villages and cities (Coimbra 40 mins, Pombal 35 mins). The views are spectacular, being at the highest part of the village, and its a 20 minutes walk to the lake above the Cabril Dam.
  
  And so the project began, after 12+ months hard work I have moved into the smaller house, and started renovating the outbuildings, the larger house is as yet untouched although, very typically portuguese, I lived there for 6 months as we worked on my current home. Its an ideal base for workawayers!

  My progress with the portuguese language has been slower than I would have liked, any opportunities to learn would be very welcome, my native language is english so would be happy to help with this. You will learn about the portuguese way of life here..

  There is a myriad of things to do here. Gardening, tree pruning, strimming (of course), landscaping... Building projects... Painting... Cat pampering, I have one cat... Creativity and ideas very welcome as the final blueprint for the property continuously evolves... I have a general direction but am unsure of the final destination!

  Acomodação

  There are several options for accomodation in the 'big' house which has 4 bedrooms, kitchen (functional with fridge/freezer, gas stove, and a dishwasher. Bathroom with shower, living room... the land out back is flat and gated so very suitable for camping or campervans. Flexible on food depending on your preference, happy to share meals or you can self-cater, or a mix of both! Happy to drive you to the local suprmarkets in Pedrogao Grande or Serta, with occasional trips up to Coimbra. Two restaurant/bars are withing walking distance (20mins and 30mins)

  Its a pretty quiet life in the village. We are close to many river beaches, walking in the area is popular. Take advantage of the huge artificial lake of the Cabril dam and the Zêzere River to go canoeing, fishing, among other sports activities. Slightly further afield are historical Serta, Pombal and Coimbra. If arriving from Lisbon or Porto by train I can collect you from Pombal or Coimbra.

  There is a flat area behind the main house, approximately 1 acre which would be very suitable for campervans.
