Hi,I'm Simon I started on this piece of barren land 7 years ago. Its been my playground to practice permaculture which has been my passion for 15 years.
I prefer to live local, integrate in the community, share ideas and solutions.
We offer retreats, cultivate diverse organic vegetables and use medicinal plants.
Bio construction for new kitchen.
Upgrade animal shelters
Lead the area to implement water harvesting techniques to get the rivers running year round
Develop an open source advanced garden planner to help people start taking responsibility for their personal and communities food.
We believe in terrain versus germ theory and as such live to strengthen our natural immune systems with sunlight, exercise in the garden and wider surrounds, staying happy, maintaining social connection and upholding important customs and traditions. We also incorporate shamanic practices.
Our approach is to be the light, live in a way that we all can thrive and co-create abundance. In our opinion It is our responsible that we all learn how to grow food and support development of resilient communities. We do this in a fun environment often playing games and mixing with the local community.
Our competencies include bio-construction, organic farming, seed saving, medicinal plants, alternative healing, healthy eating, yoga and community building. If learning these things is important to you please consider taking our holistic living permaculture course. Please ask for details.
Aside from those taking the course, we are only accepting volunteers with strong related experience or needed skills that are willing to stay a minimum of 2 weeks.
Volunteers are asked to help with the work that is needed to be done at that time. This will include gardening, attending animals, watering, community work days and may include projects. We vary tasks and share cooking duties.
The farm is situated 15 minutes walk from the plaza principal to the authentic city Mizque, set in a productive valley with a temperate climate. You can interact and experience a strongly Quechua culture and practice your Spanish both on the farm and with the wider community. There are plenty of natural attractions to experience in your free time also.
Three rivers run nearby to swim and some canyons/mountains to explore. The landscape is littered with Incan ruins and fossils revealing the rich history Mizque has.
Jessica is a certified yoga instructor, vegan and an amazing chef.
Simon is a mountain bike guide with bikes available for rent. Tours are offered at a discount to volunteers. The trails are world class.
All you need is an inquisitive mind and a great attitude. That said, we particularly appreciate people with a passion. E.g. dancing, massage, meditation, alternative healing, cooking permaculture, building.. If that says "me" to you then please send me a line.
If you can bring organic seeds this is a great contribution.
