Right now we have enough workers on the farm.

On this farm we have 65 milk goats, and we produce several different types of goat cheese. All the milk goes into our own cheesery on the farm. The cheese is sold locally on markeds and in stores. We are a family business and have started this business just recently. We are now looking for someone to help us milk the goats and to build and fix things.

    What we expect of you:
That you can build and fix things on the farm.
That you don't bring your phone to work.
Experience with animals (ideally in a farm setting)

That you can communicate your needs and questions about the work.
That you are motivated, independent and trustworthy. We need grown-up workers that think for them selves, and get the job done efficiently.

Experience with goats, sheep or cows would be very much appreciated.

The farm is located halv an hour north of Lillehammer. We are in the forest with a view over the valley. The closest village, Tretten, is 8 km away, and Øyer is 11 km away. Øyer has larger grocery stores, sport store, liquor store, doctors office, pharmacy, etc.

We are two families with kids living on the same farm. In addition my parents live here. Me and my wife have two kids, age 4and 7. My brother and his wife have two kids, age 2and 5. Everybody speaks English, most also speak German.

We are used to travelling and travellers. We have lots of stories to tell and we would love to hear about your life and travels.

Norway is also a place with great nature. We have beautiful nature here where we live. We also have a cottage up on the mountain that you can use for free (no electricity or running water). The most spectacular thing about Norway is its nature, and you get close to the nature here. In the winter this place is great for winter sports. There are several skiing resorts in close proximity. And you will find cross country tracks all over the mountains here (the mountains are pretty flat on the top).

In the summertime we take the goats up the mountain. There they can roam freely and they come in for milking by them selves. You will sometimes in the summertime be spending the night up there to do both night and morning milking before transporting the milk down to the farm with a trailor. You could then choose to spend extra time up on the mountains and go for walks or swim in the lakes.

There is also a British/ Norwegian woman that works here twice a week.

You can also get to know my brother and learn about his projects on the farm. He lives old school with horses instead of tractor, and produces his own food. Any work you do for him is unpaid, and has nothing to do with my business. He can teach you a lot about becoming self sufficient on a farm.

We hope that this job posting has sparked your interest, and we would love to hear from you and what motivates you for this job.
