Mandy and Brian are excellent workaway hosts! The jobs you have to do are truly measured to your abilities. this makes the jobs interesting but not to hard for yourself.

… read more don't mind sharing this with you. At the dinner table there was never a dull moment and if you are willing to open your ears and hear what they have to say, I can guarantee you that you'll learn a thing or two.
The Coromandel is a beautiful region with a lot of nature to discover. Mandy and Brian did everything in their power to make me experience the true coromandel, even though I didn't have a car to drive myself around! fishing, hunting, rock hopping and hiking were some of my most memorable experiences at the workaway:-)
Last but certainly not least I'll describe Mandy's cooking in one word. Wonderful. For everyone who wants to experience true New Zealand cooking I would recommend this workaway.
Thank you Brian and Mandy for this extraordinary kiwi experience in the Coromandel!

A five star notation wouldn't be enough for Mandy and Brian: they deserve 10 stars!
We only spent a week with them, but it was remarkable in every sense.
The tasks were very interesting, and Brian extremely good at teaching us skills and conveying what he wanted done. And it was varied, too: we helped finishing a fence in the woods, we
… read more sanded the façade of the house, and we did our best to herd sheep... Those lambs had us running quite a bit!
Both Mandy and Brian are full of excellent recommendations when it comes to visiting their region and the country in general. They spend time with us explaining the landscapes, the culture, the language and all that comes with it. We could just spend hours talking with them.
They were the most wonderful and caring hosts, and we felt right at home from the start. Not to mention just how amazing the accomodation is...! And the food! Mandy is a great cook, and we came out of Te Mata with a good few ideas (and a few more kilos)!

Tristan and Karli were a real pleasure to host. They are both very physically fit and highly motivated to participate in any projects or work activities.
One of the main projects they were given, on our property, was to help build a challenging 8 wire sheep proof fence in very difficult terrain. They considered this 'their baby - to be seen
… read more through to the end' and were out early every morning tackling this project in, at times, horrendous weather just to get it finished. Their dedication to the job resulted in a very professional looking fence that they can both be extremely proud of.
They both enjoy the outdoors and as a team made huge progress in cutting and removing gorse and wooly nightshade from some of the property.
We had initially offered to host Tristan and Karli to help out on our 'farm', so that we could try and catch-up on farmwork that we had got behind in. When we needed to go out we would often came home to find lawns mowed, edges trimmed, verandah and carport swept out and lots of other round the house jobs tackled - these done during their time off.
Tristan proved to be adept with a rifle and managed to harvest some of the 4 legged pests we have here, such as feral pigs and wild Arapawa sheep and Karli's meals were sublime. Recipes were quickly added to my cookbook. They were quick to clear dishes and bench and tidy up after us all.
We can highly recommend this dynamic couple. They fast became part of our family and we hope they will find time to return to us as friends and guests. We wish you guys an enjoyable and safe trip around our country and hope that we see you again. Take care.

The accommodation and food is excellent. We spent our mornings clearing their beautiful paddocks of weeds, we also learned new skills essential to Kiwi Farming like fence building, and mustering sheep. In the afternoon you can take your pick of exploring the
… read more Coromandel, fishing the Firth of Thames, and much more. We were fortunate enough to get out on Brian's boat for some first class fishing, and being able to help manage the pig population in Te Mata was a very fun bonus for those interested in hunting. One thing that makes this property very unique is the geology in the area. Brian is a very successful rock-hound and we were able to find amethyst and carnelian in the creeks around his property; some of the most fun we've ever had.
What makes this place truly special thought is Brian and Mandy. Sharing their company, meeting their family and friends, and getting to know them was a genuine pleasure. Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful part of New Zealand and some of the best Kiwis you will have the pleasure to become friends with.

Maxime and Casper were our introduction to hosting workaways in our own home and we found them friendly and very easy to get along with.
As a couple they brought a lot to the whole workaway experience. Casper was a willing and very capable helper to the projects that Brian had in the pipeline and his physical strength and stamina, teamed with
… read more sheer determination to see those jobs finished before they moved on, was mindblowing.
Maxime was passed the frustrating, therefore unenviable, task of trying to drag information out of us both to set up our Host Page on the Workaway Website. She managed this with absolute patience and finesse and put together a very workable host profile. Once this was completed she joined Casper to help with the outdoor projects ... and the magic began. It was at this stage that Brian and I came to the realisation that 'their true calling' was landscape work - What a team!!!
Together they achieved a huge amount of work - planting a herb garden / tree planting with stock protection / tree pruning / fencing and helping to build a retaining wall. Their 'jewel in the crown' was taking a flat piece of lawn and creating a magnificent raised and cobbled firepit area. (Unfortunately the weather did not provide the opportunity to christen it before they left, but we are hoping that they will head back our way again for a celebration ... and photo moments).
We have no hesitation in recommending Maxime and Casper. They fitted comfortably into our household, treated both us and our home with complete respect, were quick to help with day to day chores - to the point where I would often go to do a job only to find it had already been done.
Hey guys, you rock!!! We wish you plenty of sunny days and safe travel and hope to see you again. Will leave bubbles in the fridge for that day. Take care and thank you for all your hard work. It was very much appreciated. Hope you enjoy all our country has to offer.
