  I am a single woman of 60 years, living an active, wonderful life with my 3 dogs and a cat in a small beach community in Costa Rica. I am a physical therapist/masseuse by trade, with a small spa in my own home. My home is spacious, 100m from the beach, situated in a large area of preserved forest, full of wildlfe. I have certain ideals and standards I like to maintain, but beyond that I am a creative, open-minded person and appreciate the same in others.
  The beach where we walk daily is not busy, and has wildlife such as sea turtles and whales that literally can be seen from shore. It's true!

  I live in a rural area near a traditional fishing village. Being at my home will bring you into direct contact with some of the wonderful people from Costa Rica, and provide the opportunity for learning the local language, and trying local foods.
  I myself speak 4 languages, including English, French, German, and Spanish, and am happy to engage with anyone in any of these, regardless of their experience level. In addition to language skills, I am a teacher of massage and bodywork techniques with formal education and many years experience. I can provide intensive learning in many techniques that stem from different cultural origins.
  For myself, I have been a traveller and expat for many years in different locations; I am open to and eager to engage people from all over the world, and have the opportunity here to do so all the time. I hope only to continue this wonderful process of life!

  The project I require help with involves general domestic assistance for a person undergoing medical treatment for cancer. The person who is interested in this position must be a good soul who is mature enough to handle such a situation. The person will be responsible for offering domestic support, including general housekeeping, and pet care specifically. There may be some assistance with reminding me about medication at times, but in general the requirement is domestic support, particularly when my treatment has me feeling exhausted.
  The position is not about emotional support, in the sense that I am a strong and positive person, but you must understand and be able to accept that I will have bad days and not have much to offer in terms of company etc, and, at such times, will require support from you.
  At the same time, I am generally a joyful person and will look forward to sharing that as well when the treatment has not worn me out. Note also that I am not unwell and exhausted every day, but rather at certain times only depending what is taking place with treatment. This means the person will not at all be required to spend all their time here, but will have time and opportunity to enjoy the area on day trips, and perhaps weekends, if they desire. The one exception to this will be on the rare occasion that I must travel to the hospital, perhaps overnight. On these occaisions I would ask the person to stay at home and be responsible for my pets.

  My home has a private bedroom, in a safe and secure two story house. The bathroom is shared, (with me) but please note, I live in a hot climate and do not have hot water, which is common here. Further, there is no air conditioning, so anyone who is uncomfortable with just a fan in a hot climate might wish to reconsider. The garden and surrounding area are very large, and there is ample space for privacy, or a sleep in a hammock without leaving the property.
  The local village, where one can find stores and restaurants is 3km away down a coastal road. I can offer a bicycle for personal transportation, and there is a local bus, that passes a few times a day.
  In regard to food, offerings are very fresh, but limited compared to what can be found in the city. Further, this is not necessarily a good home for people with serious food restrictions or sensitivities. The diet here consists of fresh whole foods, prepared simply in a clean and healthy environment. The garden provides fresh fruits (coconuts, bananas, others) and we can shop together in the local markets. I am happy to cook, but my tastes and cooking style are relatively simple, but the food is fresh, and very nourishing.

  Ths is a touristy area, and there are places of interest to visit, such as butterfly gardens, and an animal rescue centre, all within a few kilometers. There is the beach, a national park, and two rivers that flow into the ocean, and provide wonderful freshwater activities. Surfing lessons can be had, and quad rentals are also available in the area. One or two local bars sometimes offer live music, and there are always yoga classes and other activities taking place on a weekly basis.
  Please note that the rainy season (May to Nov) can be intense at times. The storms that pass can be frequent and bring lots of rain, and sometimes wind. There is excellent wifi here (Starlink) however, electricity fluctuates in the rainy season, sometimes being absent for several hours. Some people also find the rainy season too buggy and humid. It does, however, offer the best opportunities for wildlfe sighting (including humpback whales) of the whole year. Further, it is the quietest time of the year in terms of tourists, so for anyone looking for something a little bit remote and at times wild, this may very well be your place.
  Please note that while I am tolerant of light drinking or smoking, heavy use of any substances will not be a good fit for my home or lifestyle, and cannot be accepted here.
