We spend two varied and relaxing weeks in the beautiful Cortijo of Inma and Julien. We felt comfortable from the first moment and were warmly welcomed.
Our room was in a small adjoining house, so we could retire if we wanted. The terrace invited to be together and get to know each other. The houses, the terrace and the garden- everything was

The work on the garden shed and the concrete stairecase gave us great pleasure. We were allowed to work self-determined, at lunchtime we were rewarded with Inma's great cooking skills, and Julien was always concerned to make us feel comfortable.
We enjoyed the tranquillity in the middle of nature, and the enchanting little dog and cats.
Great that we were able to get to know your everyday life and your philosophy of life. And thanks that we get to know Spain a little bit better through you!!
To say goodbye was not easy, we hope to see you again!!!
Eugeni et Pia seront restés 2 semaines avec nous. Au début, ils ont construit la cabane à outil, puis travaillé sur la mise en place des escaliers reliant la maison au poulailler.

Mickael came to see us for 2 weeks, during which we worked to restore the water basin of the house. The basin is 192,000 liters, we had to work with 700 kg of cement. … read more refurbishment, an invaluable help. He also helped us evaluate the Cortijo's irrigation system. He is a person you can count on to think about a project that requires technical knowledge and organization. Michael is also a person who is fun to be around, likes to laugh and share. Adam did a lot of different work during the 2 and a half months (!!) of confinement. There was the cutting of the cacti, the palm trees, the avocado harvest, the creation of
… read more the vegetable garden, but above all a very important work that he carried out, the terracing and the creation of bamboo stairs on a 5000m2 sloping ground... a long work with a very successful visual result. A work of finishing and patience. This can point you to Adam's profile, he is a person who can excel on independent work and crafts, he has a huge potential because he has all the qualities required to lead this type of project (here work with bamboo).
Otherwise, Adam is really pleasant to live with, always smiling, funny, sociable... I can only recommend that you bring him into your home and your project, by delegating to him an autonomous and creative work.

I already miss the food and of course the aperitif (Perfect time of the day enjoying a beer and laughing after the morning sun). Big thankyou to you both for helping us with everything especially with the lockdown circumstances, we all still managed to make the most of it and enjoy ourselves, and I hope the plans you have for your cortijo all go well in the coming months. Our first Workawayers!
It's like first loves, you don't forget that, do you? Anna arrived with Adam on the first day of confinement, and they stayed with us for 2 months and a half, a record no doubt, although we have no hindsight?

… read more be done, without tools because everything was closed ... we had to improvise, create with what we had on hand, and Anna has a special gift with creativity, which helped us a lot in setting up the garden, using every time we had material on site, bamboos, stones ...
So Anna has a creative profile, she is a young girl who, if followed by the guests and carefully supervised, can transform a piece of land into a heavenly garden. I really insist on Anna's creative abilities, it's a gift and a passion that lives in her... She has also helped us a lot with various jobs like picking avocados, helping in the kitchen, with delicious pies. She never counted her hours, always available to help us, to clean, and always with a smile, because Anna is a delicious person to live with, always ready to laugh, socially very pleasant.
So of course, these were our first Workawayers, I can't be completely objective, but both Anna and Adam will stay in our hearts for being there during this very special moment...

Special time and special place! I apologize for the length of the comment but I really don’t know what to cut out so… here we go:
Adam and me spent almost 3 months with Inma and Julien. Due to the covid-19 lockdown we didn’t know where we can go and for how long we will stay but Julien responded fast and the moment they picked us up with their
… read more Camper in Almunecar and we saw him smiling and waiting for us I was glad we decided to work with them. They just bought their property, a beautiful artistic cortijo in the mountains so all of us discovered the house, the trees, the work to do and the things to enjoy together.
I worked in quite a few places before but this was definitely unique. We were their first workawayers and the outside situations was a lockdown and they couldn’t buy a lot of things so we started to work with what we had - stones and bamboo and a spade. Somehow we managed to create a garden with terraces, stonesteps and artistic details as far as possible. Further we all picked avocados and cut and cleaned bamboo (and again and again). We built steps with bamboo to give them access to their whole area (its almost completely hillside) and cleaned pathways and areas and above all they trusted us in our work and let us do mistakes so we learned together - a special situation I am grateful for.
I recommend this place for people who also know how to work by themselves and have the need to work out their creativity and skills they have acquired over time. They are also quite flexible with your working hours (i.e. when Adam needed to go to the doctor or we were all really done) – but in the end they are anyway quite related to heat and weather.
Juliens call out for the aperitivo beer saved us from the morning sun and later put an end on the working day. His humor is great and we laughed a lot with him ;) It’s important to say that both are travelers themselves so for me it was easier to connect with them. They went to many places in south America, India, traveled around Europe and Morocco with their Campervan and have stories to tell and experiences with ayurvedic methods, shamanism, trance festivals and tarot cards if you are interested in it.
Inma is an amazing chef and always adjusted to different preferences. We really can’t think of one meal we didn’t enjoy (Indian, Mexican, Spanish… it was simply amazing). She does macramé herself and likes art and beautiful things in general so she knows how to keep an eye on details in your work as well as in her own. She started to make her own bread and both have the urge to live as self-sufficient as possible, so there is a constant urge for improvement and understanding how things work.
We had our own room (finally with mosquito net) and shared the bathroom with other volunteers and we were happy about the own little space we had. They are really in the beginning of an amazing project with many ideas, so I hope one day they will have their pool, more fruit trees (BANANA), the outside kitchen, an old hippie caravan with a palm tree walk and their own chicken if the neighbor should decide to raise the price for his eggs ;)
Thank you so much for taking us in in those difficult times, it was a pleasure to be with you guys and I hope you going to have great moments with coming volunteers and no mosquitos!! Lots of focus and good energy for the future!
