Lena came to us for two short weeks but stayed for two months. It was'nt long enough for us!!
Looking after 300 rescue animals is hard work and she did it with a smile and always went above and beyond.
She is a strong, fun, highly capable person who quickly became a trusted and leaned on part of our team.
We are sorry she had to move on but know

I am in love!
Arrived beginning of September to stay 2 weeks, well 2 months later and i dont wanna leave.
It is an amazing place where you learn so much, about animals, yourself and others. There are goats, donkeys, horses, dogs and pigs all ready to be fed, cuddled and loved. In the beginning i was a bit scared and needed to learn how to work
… read more with animals but everyone helps eachother, you can ask a lot of questions and if you feel uncomfortable with anything just say so.
It is hard work, outside everyday, any weather condition, so be prepared. Also its physical work but it gets easier everyday. You will fall in love with the animals, have your favorites and miss them on your day off.
The living areas are wonderful, you have a dorm room with other people, a living room and kitchen. The kitchen is full of food for everyone to use. Everyone also does one cleaning chore a day to keep it clean. But still be aware it might seem dirty because our clothes get easily dirty and there are dogs also living in the kitchen and living room. Sadly there are more animals that need help then space sometimes. But you are able to cuddle them even more or sleep with them in your bed (if you like).
You are able to do whatever in your free time, there are some buses to visit places or just walk along the fields. As a group we sometimes cooked together, watched a movie, did a little dance party, played games or whatever people came up with.
I highly recommend you to come and make you own amazing experience there.
I will be back in december and many more month in the future.

I stayed 6 weeks at the rescue and came back for Christmas and it was an amazing experience. The animals are the cutest, it's like a big family and the manager are incredible. The work is hard but it's definitely worth it. Working next to the animals amd together with other volunteers makes it a lot easier. We cooked together, played one card game

Christmas was really fun, everything except the Yorkshire Pudding was vegan and we had an amazing Christmas dinner with everyone.

I can definitely recommend staying here and I'd love to come back sometime :))Comentário

I’ve stayed almost one month at the farm during October and it was absolutely an amazing and enriching experience.

You are a bit isolated but you have buses that bring you to nearby towns and cities (Dublin for example is about an hour by bus).
The managers are amazing, super caring (both for the animals and for the volunteers), always available, kind and friendly.
You get a lot of food and the bed are very cozy: you will sleep like a rock :).
All the reviews are 100% accurate.
You will become a part of a big loving family :)

I worked at the animal rescue farm for 4 weeks. What a great and fulfilling experience! Being surrounded by such lovely and inspiring people and sweet animals every day gave me so much. I slept in a room of 6 which was so cosy and we shared it with some of the house dogs. There was a shared kitchen where we cooked together, played games, talked, sang, just had fun. I was so lucky to get to know so many great workawayers with whom I was able to spend such a wonderful time and share unforgettable moments. This rescue has grown close to my heart and I am so grateful for this experience. Thank you a lot. I hope I can come back soon.

It was fantastic to stay two weeks in the farm. Everbody was so nice! The job is really grateful, and all the animals are so cute (especially the goats!).
The job can be physical (cleaning the box, walking the dogs, feeding the animals...) and needs you to be sometimes really focus. But that is the best part of this experience, you won't work

Obviously the ambiance in the house depends who are the volunteers in charge. We were around 10 people. For me it was really nice, we usually cook together the evening, play some cardgames or watch some movies!
Thank you again for everything!
I stayed at the animal rescue for 2 weeks in September and it was amazing! The work can be physically tiring but it was definitely worth it. The animals are absolutely lovely and the staff was very nice.

The managers do a great job at keeping everything organized, especially because I know they’re extremely busy with all the animals and finding volunteers. The managers were very generous with the food they gave us, and it was always great having family dinner together. They’re very grateful for the help they receive from volunteers, which is much appreciated.
Overall, this farm is a great fit for you if you enjoy meeting new people (15+ volunteers here normally), and if you love animals. The animals are all so precious and adorable. I’m grateful to have been able to meet such friendly, caring, kind hearted people who care so deeply about rescue animals and their volunteers.
Thank you so much for everything!! I’d love to visit again one day!

It was my first time doing a Workaway and I could not have found a better one for me.

The time really flew by and at the end of the day you were really tired but it is a good feeling to know, that all the animals are now safe on the farm. The people there and all the volunteers are doing a great job!

I was almost 2 weeks on this farm. I worked from 9:30-13:30 and then from 15:30 to 16:30 but sometimes even 17. My room had 4 beds. The work in the morning was to feed the animals (horses, goats, pigs, donkeys, dogs) with hay and also to give them water. Then pick up all the animal poop on the ground in the different areas. I spent 2 days walking
… read more the dogs, there were about 10 dogs in total. The place is not modern but it is very rustic. I also had the opportunity to meet new people, in total we were about 15 people, some Italian speakers, some French speakers and many German speakers but we mainly speak English. I conclude that for being my first experience on the farm it was beautiful and I thank the entire administration team.
We helped at the animal rescue in the beginning of 2022. It was a nice experience. Working with the variety of animals at the farm was a lot of fun. We liked that most of the day was spent outside. That however also means taking in count to work at every weather condition. The whole team was lovely and caring. Since you often get dirty outside
… read more while working, you might end up bringing the dirt inside. That's why you can't expect your living area to be super clean all the time. Also the work can be physically exhausting. That's why you usually go to bed in the evening exhausted but very grateful. All in all, we had a great time and if you think that you are fine with the things described, we can definitely recommend the farm!
Thanks for everything! :)

Maybe a little bit late feedback now, but it’s important to me: I stayed for six weeks in January and February 2024 and I had a wonderful time, everyone is very kind and welcoming and you will definitely get help if you need something! Thanks to everyone working there for everything!
At first when I arrived, I was overwhelmed by being welcomed by

From then on, it was amazing to always have people and dogs around in the house and all the horses, donkeys, goats and pigs on the yard. (There was always a dog, donkey or horse around to cuddle if I had a bad day.) The other volunteers were super nice, explained everything to me and answered all the questions I had very patiently. This is a wonderful place!
Everyone has two days off a week in which one can easily get to know the surrounding towns or Dublin. If you want to visit places that are further away, you can also ask if you can have two days off in a row. I did that two times and I had very nice weekends in Belfast and Killarney, I can definitely recommend to do that!
Altogether I had a wonderful time and I would love to come back! I definitely recommend to come here and don’t stay for to short!
Thanks again to all the managers for their incredible work and to all the volunteers I could get to know!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

This Workaway was such an incredible experience.
I had never helped on an animal farm before so the tasks where all new for me.
The help mainly consists of feeding the animals and cleaning their stables - 5hrs/day on 5 days of the week.
And yes, the work was physically challenging at times - but it was so rewarding at the same time. Witnessing how
… read more the traumatized and/or injured animals get better over time. Being part of their journey, being able to show and give them the love that they have been lacking in their life before they've been rescued. I wouldn't want to miss this experience for the world.🫶🏼
But it was not only the animals that made my time here so special. I was lucky to be around those amazing humans, part of which became friends. Feeling welcome and safe from the first moment I've arrived. Learning so many new things, chatting about everything and nothing, laughing tears - being part of this wonderful community where everyone is welcome and accepted just the way they are.
Thank you to everyone who made my stay here as unique and memorable and beautiful as it was. And thank you for creating a safe space and better life for all those souls.
I cannot recommend this Workaway enough and I am sure that I will be back.
Lots of love to everyone involved ❤️

It was easy to get into the routine quickly and learn how everything was done. The help was rewarding although simple (mostly mucking stalls, giving food and water, and walking dogs) and we enjoyed becoming more comfortable helping with the animals and getting to know them. The task placements varied day by day which helped prevent feeling stale, and it was common/essential that we helped in teams and in a proactive way to get everything done each shift. Apart from that normal 4-5 hours of daily help, each person also tends to get a daily house task to keep common areas clean. Plenty of plant based groceries were provided which made us feel welcome and relaxed when it came to cooking for ourselves. There's a good guitar in the living room which was a very pleasant surprise.
We would be very happy to return for a longer stay in the future!

Unfortunately, my experience has been really short as I ended it the second day after my arrival.

Although I haven't seen much else during my stay, I believe that they are doing their best for the animals, but I can't say the same thing for the people who gift their time and energy to their rescue. No sign from them to ask if my leg recovered.

Spending the summer at this rescue was the most intense and unforgettable experience of my life, I recommend it at 1000%. The work itself is pretty easy and well organised. However, it can be harder at times, especially when you begin, and some days are longer than others, but the satisfaction at the end of the day is the best reward you could hope for. In any condition (cold, hot, rainy, sunny day), I was very excited to work and see all the beautiful faces of the donkeys, pigs, horses, goats, dogs (and humans).
The more I spent time in the yards the more I fell in love with the animals, sometimes very hard (Paddy).
Here, in addition to improving my English (and Spanish) skills made very good friends that I will keep for a long long time :') I laughed and felt happier than ever every day.
Moreover, the people from the rescue and the volunteers, gave me confidence, ambition for my future and made me realise that not all superheroes wear a cape, I admire them at least as much as a kid admires superman.
Even a book-long comment couldn't tell everything I feel about this place, the people and what I lived there.
I'm already thinking about the next time I will come, how big my lovely baby donkey will be and how much fun it will be.
My love for this place is unconditional and will never fade away <3 In the end, the hardest part is leaving the place :')

Wanderful experience!
This is a welcoming, youthful and warm place where you can be part of a big family!
An international atmosphere with people from all over the world in which there is constantly an intellectual and funny exchange!
We started our adventure at the sanctuary in early November until mid-December.
Our first week was definitely
… read more the hardest and most stressful for us 'cause we were really a few people, by the way when more people arrived the work became lighter and more easy.
In the sanctuary we work exclusively for animal welfare which sometimes requires a big commitment, both physical and emotional: we experienced happy and fun moments but also sad moments joining the suffering of animals and humans.
In the sanctuary you will have the opportunity to interact with all the animals present, get to know their different personalities and also create strong bonds with them. Most of the animals in the sanctuary have painful and difficult pasts, so they deserve love, respect and patience!
In the sanctuary you create a small society, a community where you will have the opportunity to work as a team, grow as an individual, learning to respect others, everyone's space and yourself in a welcoming and non-judgmental atmosphere.
The people who live and coordinate the sanctuary always have an open and helpful attitude!
We thank everyone for the experience you gave us and wish the sanctuary the participation of empathetic, respectful and loving people!
Special greetings to Claire, Eoin, Fiona, Ciara, the Curly and the Black Pigs, BigBerta, Margot and Ophelia, Vogue, Julio and co., Steve, Austin, Lucas, Rodney and the six beautiful Kittens! 💜

I‘m writing this after my second time at this amazing rescue. First time around they took me in very least minute and I stayed for 2 months, this year I spent the whole Summer on the farm :) And if that doesn’t already speak for itself…
I got to learn so much at this place, about all the different animals, their behaviour, their special needs,
… read more their nutrition… the rescue work, Ireland and so much more and also just a lot about myself.
And all that in such a lovely environment, where no matter the weather there is always time for a laugh, and even in the not so happy moments there is always someone there for you (2 or 4 legged) :)
The work can be hard sometimes and there will be some longer days. But its so rewarding seeing the animals get better, finding their forever homes and living their best life.
Between the team and the big group of Workaways, Igot to meet so many amazing people. Its always busy but also just a lot of fun. Wether it be chats in the kitchen, movie nights, Claires amazing family dinners, or nights at the bonfire.
So i have to say a big big thank you to the whole family for making this place feel like home and for giving me so many unforgettable experiences and opportunities.
I‘ve had the best time ever, and i‘ll always be back :)))
Lots of love, missing you every day,

Incredible experience. I felt cared for and respected. Everyone was so lovely.

We were always having a good time and sharing lots of laughs.
The work itself is not too hard and can be tiring at first but eventually your body will adapt. To me it doesn’t really feel like work since you know it’s for the animals. I learned a lot about all the animals and what it takes to run an animal rescue. If you are interested, they will teach you all about the feeds and medications that the animals require. You can also watch the vets when they come to do check ups and small procedures. It can be very emotionally draining some days since there are animals that are sick or arrive in bad conditions but there will always be someone to give you a hug and talk about it. At the end of the day the work is very rewarding and the bonds you form with the animals are very special.
I can’t say enough good things about this place and I can’t wait to go back next summer. It really does feel like a second home to me and I miss everyone and all the animals every day. The work was really doable and always completed very quickly due to the good teamwork with the others. Through our work at the rescue farm, we learned not only what an organisation like this does, but also how to work and live with the animals. Due to that we learnt that it is really important that everyone does their cleaning task to maintain the cleanliness.
We would also like to outline the helpfulness of the permanent workers on the farm, who not only helped us with the daily work where they could but also always had an open ear for problems and questions and offered us rides in the car without being asked.
The daily queue in front of the only bathroom could also always be bridged with good wifi and conversation and Claire always made sure that there is always enough food in the fridge. Because of the location and the good bus connections (closest bus stop 25 minutes by foot away or you could also ask the bus driver to let you out), we were also able to see a lot of the country on our days off and could go on some pub trips with the others.
We would definetly recommend this host to anyone and would definetly come back.

Juan Pablo was due to arrive at our rescue yesterday, Saturday 11th April, despite several messages asking him to confirm a time we had no contact from him all day, he hadn’t even read one of the messages and we were concerned that something may have happened to him. He got in touch this morning to say he wasn’t coming, leaving us short of people

In November 2019 we (Lily and Debi) spent a month at the animal rescue center and we had a great time. Our tasks were to feed the horses twice a day, muck out and feed the pigs. We won’t lie, the work was very hard, but being able to help animals in need and having fun with crazy people while doing so, absolutely made up for it. Helping in the

We lived in the mobile Home which is super tiny and it took us some time to get used to but it is worth an experience. Plus we were super lucky to live there with two people who became our best friends!💕
We could always write a shopping list and they bought the food for us which we usually ate in our tinyhome, but sometimes we organized big ,,family dinners“. We had so much fun cooking and eating in the house... between all of us and the about 20 dogs there was a lot of laughter 😂.
The stay there really taught us the importance of such volunteer-based organizations. So, if you have a heart for animals this is the place to go. Every single person you will find helping there has an unbelievable love for animals and they show it in their great way they care for them. It’s so admirable how they dedicate all their energy to the cause. We really hope we will be able to come back again another time and be surrounded once again by all sorts of animals and fun people.
Best wishes to all of you,

the current situation (Covid 19) did not allow me to stay more days on the farm because I had to return to my country, however the days I was there were very good, people are very friendly and being an animal rescue farm I makes it even more special

That was my first workaway experience and it was exactly as I hoped. I stayed at the rescue three weeks last September, what an experience!
The other volunteers made me feel welcome and comfortable in every moment.

Every day I helped with the animals.. I learnt a lot about them and about all the care they need. It was the first time for me to work with animals and I loved it a lot! All the animals were very lovely and I it was great to get to know all off them. Spend your time with animals is very rewarding. I admire a lot how much heart and soul all the volunteers puts into the rescue.
The caravan for the warkawayers was very comfortable and I had everything I needed: a bed, a kitchen, a sofa, the heating,.. For toilet and shower I used to go into the house. Every 4/5 days they provide us the food and we could ask for something particular. Every day I was invited with the other volunteers for the afternoon tea.. it was a really enjoyable moment!
The volunteers were always willing to give me a lift to Enfield, the nearest village. From the bus stop in Enfield there were frequent bus connection to Dublin and other cities.
I had two days off every week that I used to visit Ireland. I totally recommend everyone to have a trip here: it’s a really special country with special people.
I would definitely recommend this rescue for an experience you won’t forget.
I really enjoyed my stay there! It was a refreshing experience.
Thanks everyone for the wonderful time together... I can really confirm the rescue is a busy happy place ;)
I hope to be back in the future!

It's been a while since I left the farm, but I still want to leave a feedback here....
I spent 3 weeks on the farm and it was my first workaway. And I couldn't have wished for a better first experience! I'd like to say thank you to all the volunteers and the team I had a great time!

Every morning we would feed the horses, muck out (there's a lot to muck out) and do some general clean up around the farm. After that we would feed the pigs and it was always fun seeing their excited faces! Mostly we had to work in the morning and then in the evening again 1 to max 2 hours. In our free time there was a lot to do and see and if we liked to we could do our own projects. They were always open for ideas and encouraged us to try and learn new things. All the animals are so kind and funny and if you're an animal lover this is the place for you! Lots of dogs to cuddle, funny goats to watch, cute piggies, and amazing horses and donkeys ....
Every volunteer welcomed me and made me feel like a part of the group.
They would always make sure that we have enough food and everything else we need, they would give us rides into the next city and pick us up whenever we needed to!
We had lots of fun and laughter (specially when scaring Eoin ;-) - sorry again)
The work they do at this rescue farm is truly inspiring and I learned a lot.
I would really like to come back one day !

I have an interest in veterinary medicine, and the farm for me was a great place where I could learn more about it, and sometimes help out with the treatments.
The people on the farm are also great, with their crazy sence of humour, fellowship and willingness to teach you about the animals. There are also lots of people on the farm (workaways and local volunteers), so there is always somebody you can hang out with and talk to.
The location of the farm is also good if you want to explore Ireland on your days of. From the nearby village, there is a good bus connection to Dublin, and the drive takes only about an hour, and from there, there are bus and train connections to the rest of the island, like Belfast. There is also a good connection to Galway, where you can visit the Cliffs of Moher.
All in all, if you like animals and being outside, I can definitely recommend this place.

The accomodation was really nice, we were staying in a modern caravan with heating and running water and could cook out own food which was great for me.
The rescue center is a bit hard to reach by public transport but Eoin was always happy to give workawayers lifts into the bus stop and from there you can get to lots of nice places.
Thanks to all there and I hope I can make it over for a few weeks again this year to help out again!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

There are many different people who make sure you are well taken care of. We learned so much during our stay thanks to all the experienced volunteers who willingly shared their knowledge with us. We didn't need a lot of experience with horses and the team was always helpful whenever we had questions. The crew is awesome, they don't take themselves too seriously so you can always share a good laugh with them. There was not one single person we didn't get along with.
If you love animals and spending time with great people this really is the right place to be. It's mostly physical work so if you want to go there for holidays and relaxing you should probably look for something else but you get so much back from the animals and the team if you decide to work there. All the animals were so lovely, taking care of them didn't even feel like work at all maybe that's because we always worked with someone special. Wherever you look there's a dog trying to sit on your lap, a pig storming the kitchen or a donkey hee-hawing at you.
We stayed in a very cozy mobile home with our own kitchen and living room. Our fridge was never empty and we had the opportunity to write our own shopping list so we had always food we liked. Once or twice a week we had our big family breakfast where we all came together and had lots of fun. And you definitively have to be a pizza lover if you wanna survive on Saturday evenings.

I never had any experience with horses before coming here but I think as long as you are alert and listen to the information given to you and work smart anyone can do it. I left the farm with a newfound compassion and understanding for horses and other animals as well.
