We had the pleasure of hosting Romane for three weeks. She is a really lovely person to have in your home. Fun, polite, eager to learn and be part of the family.

It was so lucky she was here when our local Highland Games took place. She went to see the march of the Lonach Highlanders early in the morning, met up with my friend Irene for that and then spent the day at the games meeting up with Irene again there. She also took part in one of the races at the games and came fifth winning a prize, great achievement.
We were very sad to see Romane go and would be very happy to welcome her back here again anytime.
Best wishes Romane for your travels in Japan and we hope to see you again soon.

I had a great time staying with Tracey.
I stayed for 3 wonderful weeks in August. I was able to enjoy the Highland Games (a traditional Scottish festival). I also spent a weekend in Inverness and Lock Ness. Tracey was very helpful in taking me to the train station.

… read more room and bathroom to myself (I ended up sharing with the next workawayer). The house was very nice with lots of space. There was plenty of food for lunch and breakfast and Mark always cooked a very nice meal for dinner. I loved eating with everyone and watching DCI Bank with Mark!
The work was interesting. Tracey has experience of hosting people on workaway, she knows how to explain everything very clearly and in three days I was autonomous and could work on my own. It was the same job every day, giving hay and water to the ponies and preparing special food for Olly 4 times a day. It was less than 5 hours so sometimes I walked the dogs and fed them. Tracey is very flexible and lets everyone organise themselves as they wish.
So I highly recommend this workaway for people who love pets and nature!

I very much enjoyed my three-week stay at Tracey and Mark's farm. They were exceptionally hospitable in providing self-serve items for breakfast and lunch while dinners were a nice time to chat while having a satisfying meal, and at times an incredibly tasty one created by Mark who would often spend the afternoon preparing the food. My room was small yet cozy with a comfortable single bed, a skylight, a sofa chair, and a bookshelf that included a wide variety of excellent reads. Plenty of space to store clothes. I was told ahead of time that the internet could sometimes be slow. But overall I found it quite acceptable including the ability to stream Youtube and Netflix.
I enjoyed having daily interactions with the animals, especially the barn cats and the two house dogs Rebus and Loki. Walking the dogs and interacting with them inside the house were always daily highlights! I will also have good memories riding in the car with Mark who is a very safe driver. I enjoyed our chats as well as listening to Mark's music playlist that helped pass the time during the long ride to Tesco--a large supermarket where you can find most if not all of your supplemental needs.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but I would like to finish by saying that I wish everyone at the farm the best, and many thanks for an undoubtedly memorable experience.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

Last March/April I spent 4 weeks with Mark, Tracey and Shona. It was my first Workaway experience and I wouldn't want any other. They made me feel at home right away. Except for Loki, who was barking really loud when I arrived, haha. But after a few minutes, he calmed down and became my best friend from that moment on. The first two weeks there

We started the day with taking the three oldest ponies out of their stables and bring them to the field. Then we cleaned their stables and the henhouse. During the day we had to feed the oldest pony a couple of times, check the water and hay of the other ponies, prepare the tables for the night, walk and feed the dogs. I just came out of a very stressfull job and this place helped me to relax again.
I loved the evenings with Mark, watching crimeseries together. Me and the other Workawayer baked cakes and cupcakes in the kitchen. On nice, sunny days I took Loki out for a big walk in the hills with the amazing views. Twice I had the privilege to join the walking group on Sunday, where I met wonderful people and we walked in beautiful areas. All together I had an amazing time!

I had a great 2 month stay with Mark & Tracey. I had a lovely spacious bedroom with my own bathroom. Mark made all the dinners, he is a fantastic cook. It was nice to be able to cook and bake for everyone myself too, Mark has every kitchen gadget imaginable!

I also got to take the two dogs for walks in the glen. A fun highlight was getting to drive a quadbike round the fields.
I got to watch a farrier & a horse dentist at work on the ponies too.
I got to meet many residents of the glen, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I also got to know Shona very well, a close friend of Tracey & Marks. She is a lovely lady and great fun to be around. She taught me a lot about ponies & Scottish living, I learnt something new every day. She also has the sweetest little dog ever. I got to attend a live gig in the local hall with her and she introduced me to her own horse, who is a beauty.
In my free time I got to go hiking up a few hills, the views are spectacular. There is so much wildlife in the glen. I went with Mark to other towns such as Inverurie where we went shopping. I even got to take myself down to Edinburgh for a few nights, highly recommend!
Overall I had a great time in the glen and felt very welcomed and at ease. I loved being able to work with and get to know the ponies, they really are all little characters with lots of personality and I felt very lucky to look after them.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

The dogs have such personalities as well, and I'll definitely miss Loki's insatiable need for cuddles, having Hugo as a little partner in crime, and even wrestling rabbit carcasses away from Rebus. I was also lucky enough to have Shona (Hugo's owner) there during my stay and she is just an all-around wonderful person and an absolute riot as well. Thanks again for a great stay, I already know I'll be looking back on my time in the Glen fondly :)Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

She kept her room clean and tidy and willingly helped with with the washing up etc. While Mieke was with us, we experienced the full force of Storm Arwen which meant we were without electricity and hence light, heating (other than a small gas fire) and water in the house for five long days. Mieke took it all in good stead, carrying buckets of water from an outside tap many times a day, wrapping up in ever more layers, trying to read in the twighlight zone with many candles and just generally getting on with it as we had to. The relief on her face was a joy to see when the power finally came back, tears of laughter and relief. One for the memory book Mieke.
We'd thoroughly recommend Mieke to future hosts and would welcome her back here in the future should she like to return.
Pat and Caroline are quite simply really lovely people. They are fun, helpful, knowledgeable, kind and compassionate individuals and we were very happy that they chose to come here to stay with us. Their work ethic is brilliant, always willing to take any task on and do it to the best of their ability. They helped us with all the general day to

Additionally they re-painted two of our external doors, sorted out a load of old wood and had an enormous bonfire, helped us to sheet down 52 bales of hay for the winter and erected two high top pig arks as new shelters for some of the ponies.
They were very respectful of our home and house rules and are great cooks. They are also great card players and were happy to teach us several new games while they were here including canasta, the latter of which has been a long held ambition. We were beaten soundly on most of these although held our own with triominoes!
Pat & Caroline have travelled extensively and it was so interesting to hear the stories of the places they've been, the people they've met and the experiences they've had. It would be easy to go on and on about what a great time we had with them but I'd sum it up by saying that the time spent in their company was rewarding, enriching and enjoyable. They are two of the nicest people you will meet and we'd welcome them back here at anytime.
We thoroughly enjoyed our workaway with Mark and Tracey. We were delighted with our super comfortable accommodation and felt instantly at home. We also had fun whizzing around on the quad bike each day to replenish the ponies water and I had a riotous time on the ride on mower, attempting to cut the grass. Another interesting activity was climbing all over their newly delivered hay bales to cover them with tarpaulins and tyres. Fortunately we stayed for 6 weeks which gave us plenty of time to get to know all the ponies and we became particularly attached to Pee Wee and Ollie, who we fed and mucked out daily, they are both gorgeous. On top of which their dogs Rebus and Loki were also eager to go out on walks and were very affectionate, we will miss them all, including their three chickens, who gleefully waited for us to top up their feed. A peaceful area and the farm is set in a beautiful landscape, with lots of birds that visit the feeders as well as the occasional raptors. We were able to walk out from the house and up onto the hillsides and all around the lanes. We saw red squirrels and numerous stoats, in addition to grouse, partridge and pheasant. Mark and Tracey even took us to Braemar, which is a walker's paradise. Sadly the highland games were not on due to covid, but we did enjoy the art exhibition in the local hall. We were also welcomed by the local walking group, who took us to some beautiful locations. All in all it made for an unforgettable experience and we hope to return in the future to enjoy more of everything.

Work was centered around taking care of ponies and dogs (feeding, giving them water, walks, cleaning stables and the chicken house) with a little bit of weeding in the field. Other jobs we did were strimming weeds that had grown over the electric fencing and clearing the hay field of Ragwort, a weed that is dangerous to horses and ponies.
The Ragworting was a particularly erroneous manual task but a few hours soon passed by, especially when the sun was out and you had wonderful views of the Glen and the wildlife.
Mark and Tracey allowed us to bring our dog Kai, him and Rebus got on very well so we went on a couple walks a day with them too.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and there is plenty of room in the Converted Steading to not be on top of each other, the accommodation is 5 star.
We also did a bit of cooking but never felt obliged to, it was just nice to do particularly when Mark and Tracey had been at work all day.
While there, there was a Ceilidh (Scottish dancing and music) in the local Hall that was absolutely amazing, a great little Community in the Glen.
Locally the roads are great for cycling, quiet and scenic. I managed to cycle up to the Lecht Ski Resort, a real challenge, made easier by the fact the road was closed to cars due to roadworks.
Maxine was able to provide some massages to some of the locals as well as doing a couple Yoga Classes in the Hall which she really enjoyed.
Overall this was a brilliant first Workaway for us, if you fancy some peace and quiet, friendly locals and a real feel for rural Aberdeenshire you can't go wrong. We would do this Workaway again.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.
