Hello! My name is David. Born and raised in the bay area , of northern California. I was fortunate enough to travel often through my years around the world. All of those experiences were wonderful! Now that I have a project of my own I look forward to hosting travelers & sharing some of the skills that I’ve gained along the way.

Colton my friend, and I have have a beautiful property in northern California that was homesteaded during the gold rush & operated as a gold mine. It was abandoned for a couple of decades prior to me getting it. So it’s a diamond in the rough currently! There is a house & several cabins that I’m in the process of renovating. A fruit orchard with walnuts, apples, pears, plums, peaches, & mulberries.

This year I’m setting up a vegetable garden. There are 2 creeks that run through the property & a large pond. We’ll be setting up hydro-electricity this summer. We’re also cleaning around the pond & setting up a little floating village with yurts & who knows what else!

We would like to know about your transportation, due to fact we are pretty far off the beaten path. There is public transportation to Nevada city, Ca. but hopefully you have a vehicle. Makes this so much easier for people up into the area. Please let us know.

You can learn construction & carpentry skills, brush clearing , gardening & all sorts of self-sufficient task.

We need help with land & brush clearing around the pond. The perimeter of the pond was vastly overgrown, so removing brush to allow for the more dominant trees to thrive. This is done with pruning shears & rakes. Also, landscaping around the home & tending to the vegetable gardens.

The property is 3 hours east from San Francisco & 1.5 hours north of Sacramento. Located 25 miles north of beautiful Nevada City. There are many rivers & lakes in the area. Lots of cool old gold rush towns as well. Plenty of places to get off the beaten path & relax.

We have plenty of space for people in their own RV's, campervans. Etc. don't have power hook up and you should be fully self- contained.

I can’t even begin to describe how great Benjamin is. He currently holds the record for my longest staying workawayer. He was beyond helpful during his visit with all kinds of different task. Roxanne & David are incredible people. They’re in the midst of a massive hitchhiking/bicycling trip through the americas. They are super helpful & did a great job clearing a pretty dense area of the property. They know their way around the kitchen as well. It was great to get to know the 2 of them. Highly recommend. If there is one reason you should choose this Workaway, it's for the bonefires at night. There are really nice chill vibes, I even had the occasion to celebrate my 20th birthday in some hot springs in Sierraville (Sierra city?) with the others workawayers. I usually don't leave any feedback, just for saying how much my time there was good!
