It was a pleasure to have Jessica and Tobi as Workaways. They fitted right in, and were a pleasure to have around. They were absolutely fantastic with the horses, the cat and the dog. We wish them both the best for their future endeavors, and they’re welcome to come back anytime.

we had a great time at the farm with a great variety of tasks so it would never get boring! Claire and Shaun as well as her parents are lovely people and made us feel really included. We cut the grass and branches for wood, collected apples, painted the fence and helped them with other tasks around the house. They have 3 beautiful horses, one
… read more super cuddly dog and cat. The house we stayed in was beautiful, we had so much space! We can only recommend this place especially when you're travelling with at least one other person. We hope to come back again!
We were lucky to spend three amazing weeks with Claire, Shaun, and Alex this summer. They were incredibly gracious, hospitable, and welcoming hosts who made us feel instantly at home. Not only did we enjoy collaborating with them on the various projects around their stunning property, we also loved spending time with them whilst sharing food and
… read more stories from our lives. Three majestic horses, a frisky little cat, and a big, affectionate dog that kept us company made our stay all the more enjoyable.
The work we did was both varied and gratifying. Either Claire or Shaun were around if we needed to ask for advice or guidance. What's more, all the tools/work materials were in good condition, well-organized, and easy to find which meant that we could work efficiently.
Finally, the gite we stayed in was charming and had everything we needed to cook meals, do laundry, etc. Clearly, a lot of care had gone into preparing it for us prior to our arrival.
Thank you again, Claire, Shaun, and Alex. Hope to see you in Barna one of these days. ¡Hasta la proximal!
We could not have asked for more. Maura and David were perfect guests and we will miss them! As will all the animals. They worked so diligently and with such care. They took on so many different projects over the three weeks and saw them all through to completion. They also came up with their own ideas on how to improve the gardens/property and we

It was my first workaway experience, and it was remarkable.
Alex is an incredible host and does everything to make you feel good, comfortable. We had time to visit Mayenne, the food was excellent (even meals in the most customized way was served - for me, a Brazillian BBC), plant of conversations and lessons learnt. During the work, tons of
… read more lessons about horses, agriculture and rewards (having a tree with your name can look like a joke, but there is a lot of feeling on that, and to have the sensitivity to apply this experience in a way that sounds important is something very singular and Alex has skills to deal with people).
They were very flexible with work and extremely supportive. I wish all my workaway experience to be like this one.

I had a great time staying with Claire & Alex in Mayenne.
They are both lovely, generous people who are a lot of fun to be around.
The work hours were very reasonable.
It was fun to spend time with and learn about the horses as Claire has a wealth of knowledge on horses and has spent her life riding and caring for them.
