My tasks included looking after the children, playing with them, helping with household maintenance, and doing some gardening. Everything flowed smoothly and collaboratively. Paul and Janne were always very communicative, with active listening and always making sure I felt comfortable. The food was also consistently healthy and delicious, which made me feel right at home.
I would recommend this family to any Workawayer seeking a warm, active experience full of good moments. Thank you for everything!

I was part of Paul and Janne's family for one month, in a wonderful sunny spring period.
This was my first experience with workaway.
From the beginning they were very kind and helpful for any needs.
They always asked me if I wanted to take part in their activities ( sports, trips, meals with friends...) whithout ever being intrusive.
Sometimes we

From them I did some fun gardening and DIY construction work, sometimes with the help of Paul and his friendly father.
My English was not the top, but with their help I feel myself improved.
Their children are growing up very smart, they speak both German and English at home.
The natural environment around the house is spectacular, especially for those who love the ocean and quiet environments (Inchydoney area is incredible).
They provided me a bike to ride and if you like surfing they also have a workawayer board ( there is also a surf school at Inchydoney).
Definitely very positive experience!
I thank them for trusting me to do some delicate work, for the super hospitality and for treating me like a family member.

Albert was a fabulous workaway. He was extremely adaptable and learned new skills really quickly. He was highly motivated and always was fun to be around. … read more the house (cleaning, cooking etc) were distributed equally, and Janne and Paul always made sure that we did not have to pay for the groceries that were bought for dinner etc. They were also fairly kind employers as they trusted us to do the work and were understanding when one of us was too sick to go out. The work in itself was extremely interesting and we learned a lot helping with the renovation and caring for the garden. However, I would only recommend applying for a stay for people who are interested in or have experience with house and garden work as this is the main field the family needs a hand with at the moment. The city centre of Clonakilty wasn’t far away and we used the bus route to Cork and other places. Paul and Janne are very hospitable and will always go out of their way to help you when required. They kindly took me to a couple of local tourist attractions too which was a real treat.

The work is not really hard and there is something for everyone. From mowing the lawn, to weeding, to doing small projects in the garden, you can spend a lot of time outdoors. Tidying up the house, helping with the cooking or keeping busy with the kids is great for bad weather days. At Dunmore Beach House, everyone finds a task to contribute their share.
Especially with the children you can do a lot. Be it tractor races around the house, playing hide and seek in the garden or have dance parties in the kitchen are only few things for great fun. The two of them always keep you on your toes and you have lots of laughs.
And after work or on the weekends, Janne and Paul like to take you on little trips and show you the great area they live in...or you just enjoy one of the beaches and the sea, which is right outside the front door.
The bike is also always available to go shopping or spend the day in Clonakilty, which is only a few minutes away. Likewise, you could go on small bike tours in the area. Here just the hint, it can be quite steep. However, it is super worth it because you will see great cliffs, forests and landscapes.
By doing a lot with the family, I met a lot of their friends, which I found especially great because I was able to improve my English and the neighborhood became even more home-like.
