  I'm Yasmine, ex-teacher now working in tech, and I have brought my cat Shadow from Toronto to Berlin. I've had him since he was 8 weeks old and he's been with me in the past decade. 😻 Now he's a bit older and has chronic pancreatitis - it's painful and causes him to sometimes puke :( - so he needs a few portions of wet food during the day.

  ✔️ are quiet and will not party at home
  ✔️ are a non-smoker / will not smoke at the apartment
  ✔️ are clean and responsible. This is my personal home for which I have to work hard to pay a big portion of my salary. Therefore, please treat it as your own home and return it to me clean and tidy.
  ✔️ will not come home drunk or hungover and neglect Shadow (Sadly that happened with my previous cat sitter / house sitter. Shadow was left without fresh water and food for long hours sadly and it causes weeks of stress for him as well as us...😿)
  ✔️ will absolutely not bring home any visitors. That will stress Shadow out and cause further complications, other than the fact that it's my private home with my belongings.
  ✔️ can feed Shadow wet food 2-3 times a day, change his water, brush him (otherwise he'd cough up a big hairball which causes fluid loss), and clean his litter once a day, send me daily updates with photos and/or videos, and cuddle with him to calm him down in the absence of his "mom" 😺
  ✔️ are willing to provide references for your previous volunteer work, cat sitting, etc (or even your parents if you want!) if you have no feedback on your profile.
  ✔️ are free to have a video call to see if we're a good fit.
  
  Shadow is a bit older (born in 2013) and needs more patience as well as gentle care and attention and several hours a day spent with him. He is ill meaning it’s not just like taking care of a 1-year-old cat that doesn’t need much: he has painful pancreatitis which stresses him out and sometimes kills his appetite, meaning he would possibly need to be given a painkiller or Gabapentin, a capsule which helps with anxiety and pain and he would need to be fed wet food at least a couple times a day. He may not eat it all up in which case we usually put some cream he really loves on top of the food or mix it with the food 😺
  
  ✨ At the moment - Shadow isn't taking any meds, but I give him a small amount of a powder to lick before his meals which helps with digestion.
  
  He’s a very gentle, loving, and emotional cat. When he’s not in pain he’s pretty playful and loves to talk (he responds to his name when I call him!)
  
  🙂 I'm friendly, open-minded, clean, and a vegetarian (mostly vegan)! I'm new to Workaway and still working on my profile, so if you have any questions feel free to ask!
  I can also speak Spanish, German, French (to a degree) and Persian, so feel free to write me in any of those languages.
  
  Unfortunately this is only for when I’m away, so I cannot provide any meals or have anyone while I'm home in Berlin. However, I live in a nice apartment in a trendy area of Berlin which would normally cost an arm and a leg to rent, so I hope that can be a good enough compensation for you to care for our lovely shadow and enjoy your time in Berlin. 😀
  
  ❕Note: There is a small security camera at the entrance in the hallway. The camera is for the security of my home and safety of my pet but it does not record videos. It will NOT be facing where you sleep so don't worry! 🙂

  🔺You must be a genuine cat lover! It's very important that you have a good amount of experience caring for cats and are familiar with them.
  
  We are looking for volunteers who are ideally over 21 years of age and have had experience with senior cats / cats with special needs before.
  
  Daily tasks include:
  🔺 feeding wet food 2-4 times a day,
  🔺 brushing my cat daily to get a good amount of fur off,
  🔺 changing his litter,
  🔺 providing attention, cuddles, companionship, and a relaxing environment for him away from noise and excitement,
  🔺 if necessary, giving him medication (pill or capsule) gently,
  🔺 updating twice daily with photos and/or videos of Shadow and his eating (e.g. day and night)
  🔺 cleaning after yourself
  🔺 tidying up the apartment
