The 5 months I stayed with the family were really beautiful and went by way far too quickly.
As this being my first workaway experience, I couldn’t have imagined how great it would be.
From the day I arrived I was welcomed with open arms (even by the cats) and immediately felt like I was in the right place.
They always included me in their

Spending time with the kids enriched my everyday live, they made me laugh all the time so it never felt like an obligation.

Mila stayed in our home for 5 months and we had a great time together. She got along very well with both the kids, they has such a special relationship, like siblings! She had fun with them, played, did crafts, read to them, she became part of the family.
We were happy to see her feeling at ease here, learning Italian, making her own friends.

I´ve been staying with Michela, Andrea, Sveva and Alex (and the cats!) for 5 weeks from January to the end of February and I had a really really good time living with them!
They are a loving and warm-hearted family and included me in everything. I could not only join every evening for delicious dinners but also for family trips and actions. On the
… read more other hand, they definitely respected my privacy and whenever I just stayed in my own cozy room or went elsewhere, such as my tours to Rome.
Their house is quite big and I felt truly welcome to move and live, and of course, eat there 😊
My routine was to get up at around 7 and eat breakfast with Alex and Sveva, getting them ready for school and then drop them off there. The school is really close to their house so you can do all the daily stuff by foot! Normally I had freetime from 9 to 4pm when I picked the kids up from school and played, crafted or drew something with them. On the evenings and weekends, I was free to join them or do whatever I wanted. But in the end one of Andrea and Michela was always available or reachable when there was something I wasn´t sure about or struggled with.
Sveva and Alex are two smart and sweet children. Of course we needed to get used to eachother but we got on well quite fast and as soon as we got a feel for eachother, I had even more fun with them. I loved to draw and craft with Sveva and to make (loud :D) music with Alex.
To summarize: it was an awesome first Workaway-experience and I am looking forward to see them again!
Anna is the sweetest and most caring girl we could ask for. She got along with the kids so well since day one, and it was always great to chat with her for us adults as well!
She's really patient, funny and nice. The kids were totally following her lead, they loved playing with her. I can really see her fulfilling her dream to become an elementary

She was also helping in the house wherever needed.

Elly is an interesting person, with whom you can have a good chat literally about anything! She can do many different things, she can read tarots and do horoscopes, she also offered to teach me how to sew but unfortunately we didn't have much time for that.
She enjoys cooking and baking and during her stay she cooked for us on several occasions,
… read more we particularly enjoyed her muffins with cranberries, lemon zest and apples! She likes to make up recipes following her inspiration and some fresh food she finds in the kitchen :)
She was also very kind to our kids and our cats.
We wish her all the best for her future, I'm sure she will find a new bright path in her life! Hopefully we will see her again down the road.

I spent one week with Michela and her lovely family, before I moved on to an other place in the area. Everything was fair and communicated well, I loved the area and the kids are really sweet. Even if I could only stay two weeks, I had such an unforgettable time with this wonderful family. Since the beginning they were all very open which made me feel as if I knew them already. … read more don't speak or understand Italian. But the kids are smart so we could have conversations with the help of our hands and facial expression when words couldn't help. So, maybe we had sometimes language barriers but never interaction barriers. It was always so much fun to be a part of this family, to play with the children and to have interesting conversations with Michela and Andrea. They tried to show me as much tradional Italian stuff in this two weeks as possible. I loved it.
During my free time, I visited several museums in Rome and some little villages in the south of Ciampino. Michela and Andrea had always some recommendations on what to see or where to go.
I absolutely recommend this place for people who like to get in touch with an open minded Italian (but also international) family, with the Italian culture and for people who enjoy having children around them (playing, drawing, being creative but also comforting sometimes). My stay with Michela, Andrea, Sveva and Alex was my first workaway experience and I can really recommend them. They made me feel welcome from the first day. When I didn‘t feel well or there was any other problem, I could always talk to them and they helped me.

The area is perfect as it‘s close to Rome, I had enough free time to discover the city and I also made some friends. There is so much to see!
Prepare yourself to eat delicious italian food, Michela is an amazing cook. My favourite was their selfmade pizza on Saturdays.

… read more her help. She was flexible and adjusted to our needs, she didn't mind to take care of the kids even during a few evenings, when she was supposed to have free time. It was very nice to have her around in the house, to talk to her about her strong ideas (she has an intersting opinion on many "adult" topics, despite her young age). … read more a special place in my heart. Michela is a powerwoman and such an inspiring person! I enjoyed talking to Andrea and her and learning lots about our cultures and lifestyles. I eat vegan and mostly gluten free and Michela was able to cook delicious food even though they aren't fully vegan themselves! I definitely took away so many memories as we went on some family trips together. They were always so understanding no matter what was the cause. As for the "timetable" you will mostly be free from 9am-4pm on weekdays but I always stayed flexible. I enjoyed exploring Rome on the weekends and the neighbourhood of Ciampino (Lago Albano, Marino) from time to time during the week. Naturally, I helped a bit around the house and of course enjoyed the time with Alex and Sveva! This was my first workaway and also first time being an aupair, I became more confident around kids and am grateful for everything I learned.

Both of the very sweet children are always happy and easy to interact with. I enjoyed just being around them and taking care of them never felt like a work, but just like a fun time with lovely kids.
I learned a lot from the family, not only about Italy and it’s culture (especially food ;)), but also about life in our long daily talks. … read more that I could ask everything and made me feel so included! Because Michela was with Sveva and Alessandro at home it was a real relaxed and fun work. Most of the time I played with Sveva and teached her a bit German in a playful way or took care of them, whenever it was needed. Both of the kids are just adorable, easygoing and I miss them so much!
I spent my freetime with visits to Rome and enjoyed the nice city or on weekends the family took me to beautiful trips around the area . Furthermore Michela is also an awesome cook and they both explained and showed me so much of their special food and traditions. Thank you so much for that!
