Billy was with us for three months. In that time he fitted right in and did whatever i asked him to do well and without fuss.
He is a talented artist and a brilliant barber. He cut our friend's hair (who is a model and so his hair is very important) with success and transformed our other workawayer...
He is good with dogs too. I went on holiday
… read more for a week and Billy looked after the dogs and the house without problem.
Another time he took our dog out for a walk and she was attacked by a very large dog. Billy picked her up and held the attacker off until the owner came to drag the dog away. From that moment she wouldn't let billy out of her sight.
Anyway we miss him now and wish him all the luck in his travels..

We spent 2 weeks with Helen, she lives in a beautiful three-storey house with a swimming pool. Helen is very nice, friendly and helpfull. The work was easy and comfortable, we worked four hours every day from Monday to Friday. The job involved cleaning the house, fixing old chairs, making an outdoor planter and planting flowers in it, refurbishing
… read more beds or gardening. Helen is a person with a great heart, she was interested in our comfort and looked after our stomachs. She cooks great vegetarian meals. Also the fridge was always full of food. During our stay we met other workawayeres and other Helen´s hosts, they were all very nice. There is definitely a lot to see in the area, the beautiful town of Sitges with breathtaking beaches and indescribable atmosphere. You can also make short hike around the area or visit Barcelona. The beach can be reached from Helen in 20 minutes walk or by bus.

I really enjoyed my stay with Helen, she ensured that I have varied and intetesting work, and gave a clear schedule for work and plenty of time off to explore the region. A great experience for me!

What a lovely couple. Really good company.
They coped really well with each task I gave them. Then I asked them to clean the kitchen which was sparkling after they worked their magic. I was so clean in fact I was a bit scared of going in and messing it up.. We did some woodworking at the end which went really well too.

Hosting Tim and Jenny was a wonderful experience. Jenny was willing to turn her hand to anything and was left to prepare lunch at a moment's notice and was truly amazing at cleaning windows. She also did a lot of general gardening as well as using and electric saw for the first time that Tim guided her through.

… read more too...setting up clamps for concreting, helping to lay roofing tiles and many other things. He has such knowledge of plants and gardening.
They were very agreeable company too and made the most beautiful baskets out of leaves they had pruned.
I hope they stay in touch and come back and visit again...

John lived and worked with us for a month.
In that time he proved himself to be a quick learner with unfamiliar tasks and a hard worker.
The tasks covered were:
-Painting of railings...he did very well with this and didn't skrimp on the preparation.
-Painting of masonary...he scraped down all the loose paint and then primed and applied two coats.

He covered the areas not to be painted and moved plants also cleaning any drips at the end.
-Mixing Concrete...he learned the proportions and then accurately guaged the quantity of water required. He learned to manipulate the concrete with a trowel to apply it.
-Fixing of shutters. We fixed the roller mechanism and got the shutters working.
In all with minimum guidance I found that he was able to work with minimal instruction but he would query anything he wasn't sure about.
I can recommend his skills and i wish him well.

… read more fantastic host- makes you feel right at home, treats you with kindness, trust and a lot of care. I learned many new things and am now super inspired to learn even more about some of the things I got a glimps of at Helens place. She has many different jobs to do and she really takes your skills and wishes into consideration. This was my first workaway and it started off on a very right foot!

Sitges is an incredible place where I met a lot of people. You can enjoy a nice, calm city with a good nightlife. The beach and the sunsets are awesome.

Pablo was really a great person.
He helped with the outside works...mixing cement, moving materials digging foundations etc but also he helped with the daily housework as well. For us having him was a very positive experience.
