Descrição
We’re a family living in Jasper National Park looking for someone who would love the experience of living in the Canadian Rockies and becoming part of our family for the fall/winter season.
This would be a great fit for someone already coming to Canada on a Working Holiday / open work permit who wants a home base in Jasper, plenty of time to explore, ski, hike or pick up another part-time job, while also spending some time helping our family.
🏡 The homestay side
You would have your own bedroom in our family home and be included in normal family life and meals. We’d love someone who genuinely wants the experience of living with a Canadian family rather than simply renting a room.
💛 Paid help
We’re looking for approximately 10-15 hours per week, primarily:
* School pickup for our 6-year-old about 3 afternoons per week
* Hanging out with him until we’re home from work
* Some light household help/laundry
* Occasional meal prep or helping with our animals
* A few school closure days, which would be a longer paid day
Most weekdays you would have a large portion of the day free, so there is lots of opportunity to find additional work in Jasper if you’d like.
We’re hoping to find someone who wants to feel like an extended member of the family—join us for adventures when you want to, have dinner with us, experience a Jasper winter, but also have plenty of independence and your own life here.
Ideally starting September/October 2026 and staying through the winter/spring.
If this sounds like the kind of Canadian experience you’re looking for, send me a message and tell me a little about yourself, when you’ll be in Canada, how long you hope to stay, and your current work-permit/visa status. -

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
We’d love to share our little corner of the Canadian Rockies with someone who wants to experience what it’s really like to live in a small mountain community.
We’re a busy, social family and you’d be welcome to join us for family dinners, get-togethers with friends, community events, kids’ activities and whatever adventures we happen to be getting up to. Jasper is a small town, so it doesn’t take long to start recognizing people and feeling like part of the community.
A lot of our family life revolves around being outdoors. Depending on the season, we can introduce you to hiking and mountain biking, days at the lake, camping, skating, cross-country and downhill skiing, tobogganing and all the little traditions that come with living through a Canadian winter in the mountains.
We’re also happy to share practical skills and hobbies. There’s usually some sort of project happening around our house, from cooking and baking to sewing and creating things, caring for our animals, and getting outside with the kids. We can also help you learn about the area, Canadian culture and what day-to-day life in a National Park community is like.
The exchange goes both ways for us. We’d love for our kids to grow up meeting people from different parts of the world and learning that there are so many different ways to live. We’d love to hear about your home, traditions, food and language — and if you want to cook us something from your country, teach the kids a few words in your language or share a favourite tradition, even better!
Most importantly, we want you to have your own experience here. You’ll have plenty of free time to explore Jasper, make friends, find additional work if you choose, and make the most of living in one of the most beautiful parts of Canada. -

Ajuda
We’d love to find someone who genuinely loves kids and animals and is happy to jump into everyday family life with us.
The biggest help would be picking our 6-year-old up from school a few afternoons a week and hanging out with him until we’re home — playing, getting outside, going to the park, doing crafts, or just relaxing at home together. He also loves to golf, ski, bike, fish so bonus if you love any of those as well!
We also have a younger son who is in daycare during the week, so you wouldn’t normally be responsible for him, but we’d love someone who enjoys having both kids around and wants to feel like part of the family.
Our house is also very animal-filled! We have dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs, so being an animal lover is pretty much a must. Helping might occasionally mean feeding animals, letting the dogs out, or having a furry shadow following you around while you’re here.
We’d also appreciate an extra set of hands with normal household things — folding some laundry, tidying up after the kids, light cleaning or helping get dinner started.
There would also be occasional full days when school is closed where we’d need childcare, and those would be paid accordingly.
More than anything, we’re looking for someone kind, easygoing and independent who genuinely enjoys being around a busy family. We don’t need someone working constantly — we want someone who can help make our weeks a little easier while also having lots of time to enjoy Jasper and have their own life here. -

Acomodação
You’ll have your own private bedroom in our family home, so you’ll have a comfortable space that is completely yours. You’ll share a bathroom with our two boys.
You’ll also have access to the rest of our home and are welcome to treat it like home while you’re staying with us — use the kitchen, relax in the living spaces, do laundry, hang out in the yard and join us for meals when you’d like.
We live right in Jasper, Alberta, in the heart of Jasper National Park, surrounded by the Canadian Rockies. Town is small and easy to get around, with shops, restaurants, cafés, trails and community facilities nearby.
We provide the basics you’ll need at home, including Wi-Fi, laundry facilities and household essentials, and there’s space to store your outdoor gear.
Our home is definitely a real family home rather than a quiet guesthouse! There are two kids, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs, so expect a little noise, activity and the occasional animal wandering by. If you love kids and animals and like the idea of being part of a busy, welcoming household, you’ll fit right in. -

A few things to know before deciding if we’re the right fit for you!
Jasper is a very small mountain town and quite different from living in a city. Edmonton is about 4 hours away, so this experience is best suited to someone who genuinely likes nature, outdoor activities and small-town life. There are restaurants, cafés, shops, a recreation centre and a great community here, but you won’t find big-city nightlife or shopping.
You’ll have lots of free time during the week to explore, meet people or take on another job locally if you’d like. Jasper is a tourism community with hotels, restaurants, cafés and shops, so there are often opportunities for seasonal work.
Unfortunately, we aren’t able to sponsor a work permit or visa. Please let us know what type of Canadian visa/work permit you have (or are applying for), when you expect to arrive in Canada and how long you hope to stay when you contact us.
We’d ideally love someone who can stay for several months rather than just a few weeks, as we’d like the kids to have the opportunity to really get to know you.
We have quite a few animals, so please consider any allergies or comfort levels around dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs before applying!
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is independent and excited to make Jasper their own while they’re here. You’re always welcome to join in with our family, but we also completely respect your free time and want you to have your own friends, activities and adventures while you’re living with us -

For digital nomads Digital nomads are very welcome! We have reliable Wi-Fi, and your private bedroom can also be used as a workspace during the day. Our home is generally quiet during school/daycare and working hours, although it is a busy family home once everyone is back in the afternoon! Jasper is in the Mountain Time Zone (MT), which may be worth considering if you’ll be working remotely for a company or clients in another part of the world. Because Jasper is a small and fairly remote mountain community, we recommend arriving with everything you need to work comfortably. Edmonton is approximately four hours away, so replacing specialized equipment or making a quick trip to a big-city store isn’t always easy. If you plan to work remotely while visiting Canada, please make sure your immigration status allows you to do so. We’re happy to accommodate a remote-work schedule and would love to find a balance that gives you the opportunity to experience family and community life in Jasper while still having the time and space you need for your own work.
