Thanks Kerstin for hosting me at the farm for 2 weeks!
I was in Much in November and I helped prepair for winter with tasks like: weeding, trimming bushes, digging up trees, paint fences, help install fences and moving building materials to her dad's house where we also worked in his garden.
The days were very structured, working from morning
… read more until lunch, some free time and then I would cook and clean up in the evenings. The bedroom/ apartment was super big! It is part of the building next to Kerstin's house and it was super comfortable staying there!
I enjoyed my time and learnt a lot :) Kerstin has an amazing work ethic and I'm happy to have met her.
A small note for workawayers who consider going to the amazing farm in Much: don't base your horse expectations on the older feedback of previous guests. The circumstances have changed a bit since COVID. While there are still 2 of Kerstin's horses and horses belonging to someone else at the farm, the work is focused on the garden/house and there was limited interaction with the horses. Even though, my expectations were a bit different concerning the horses (my own fault) I really enjoyed my time in Much and I would totally recommend this workaway to everyone!

Beatriz was a very good help. She worked independently and reliable and solved the tasks very well. I felt really sorry for her having the covid, but she took it quite easy and wasnt worried too much about it at all. Beatriz has a pleasant personality so we came along very well. I was last August in Kerstin place(sorry for the feedback delay) and stay around 5 weeks.
I got this bad luck of getting sick with Covid 2 days after arrival. Not big deal, but enough to leave my body feeling exhausted for 15 days.
She was very patient and flexible and not demanding at all. I moved to a separate apartment she has and I was working
… read more a few hours a day as I was feeling ready. The hot days in August didn't help neither!
I was mainly weeding and clearing horses crap, but also did some inside and outside cleaning, harvesting from bushes,trees or the garden or brushing the dogs.
We made jam with the fruits and we share some cooking and recipes.
I also learn to prune the roses in hers and his beautiful father's garden (I even got a tip from him 😄)
We were normally sharing a talk at dinner
Because of my covid situation plus studying at the same time, I didn't go around much in my free time until the very end that I made a few days trip out and she help with a lift to the airport or from train station.

I stayed with Kerstin for three weeks from the end of November, as my first workaway experience. Since it was the start of winter, most of the work had to do with preparing the garden and shed for winter. I have never done so much weeding in my life, but I could listen to audiobooks while working so it was never boring. With the really heavy
… read more things we always had help, so while it was sometimes heavy work, it was always manageable. Do be prepared to get your hands (and clothes) dirty. The dogs were extremely friendly and I will certainly miss them! In my free time, we almost always went for trips with the horses into the surrounding countryside. I had the chance to ride trusty old Shari many times, and Kerstin trusted me to go alone as well.
We shared many talks about anything and everything, and we have a lot of things in common ;) I also visited Bonn and Siegburg and the incredible Christmas markets there (they have a medieval market in Siegburg, complete with historic clothing and shows!).

I spent 2 weeks with Kerstin and her cats, dogs and horses and every day was a little adventure.

We accomplished a lot in this 2 weeks (building a shelf, cleaning the garage ...) Kerstin is really hard working person but you won't have a lot of physical work here, instead you will spend your time walking the dogs, cleaning a bit and sharing laughter in the kitchen!
