This is a small farm on which currently 5 horses on 3 hectares of pasture land can enjoy their existence. The support of animal welfare is a concern of ours. So in addition to our horses we took in a few cats to give them a species-appropriate life. Furthermore, we have a small vegetable patch, so that we can feed ourselves in the summer months mainly self-sufficient, a glas house is being planed.
We need help with the day-to-day tasks as well as with smaller, mostly craft projects, such as the construction of a terrace roof. Further more we are now building a fence on the border of the property, renovating and rebuilding a roof of a garden hut, so manual skills would be really helpful at this time. But also easier work needs to be done, such as paintng and carrying furniture for preparing a holiday apartment. So no previous experience is required but you need to be willing to do physical work and don´t mind to get your hands dirty.
This is a good place for people who prefer places close to nature and/or want to have a time out from citylife. On the other hand daytrips to cities such as Cologne and Bonn offer a good variety in the freetime. Also its possible to explore the area by hiking and cycling.
Dies ist eine kleine Farm, auf dem zur Zeit 5 Pferde auf 3 ha Weideland ihr Dasein artgerecht genießen können. Die Unterstützung des Tierschutzes liegt mir sehr am Herzen. So haben wir mehrere Katzen aus dem Tierschutz aufgenommen um ihnen ein artgerechtes Leben zu ermöglichen oder sie in gute Hände weiterzuvermitteln.
Weiterhin habe ich ein Gemüsebeet, so dass wir uns in den Sommermonaten teilweise selbstversorgend ernähren können. Ein Gewächshaus ist in Planung.
Ich benötige Hilfe bei der Verrichtung der alltäglichen Aufgaben sowie bei kleineren, meist handwerklichen Projekten, wie z.B. dem Bau eines Terassendaches. Zur Zeit renovieren wir außerdem eine Gartenhütte und bauen einen Zaun an der Grundstücksgrenze. Daher wäre es toll, wenn Helfer handwerkliche Fähigkeiten mitbringen würden. Andererseits sind auch einfache Arbeiten, wie Streichen und Tragen von Möbeln gefragt, da wir eine Ferienwohnung vorbereiten. Somit sind Vorkenntnisse nicht unbedingt erforderlich, aber ihr solltet euch nicht vor körperlicher Arbeit scheuen und bereit sein, eure Hände auch mal dreckig zu machen.
Dies ist ein geeigneter Ort für Leute, die ruhige, naturnahe Orte bevorzugen oder sich eine Auszeit vom Stadtleben gönnen wollen. Andererseits bieten Ausflüge in die nahegelegenen Städte wie Köln und Bonn in der Freizeit eine gute Abwechslung. Die Erkundung der Umgebung mit Fahrrad besteht natürlich auch.

The two weeks at the farm passed quickly. Kerstin's support, willingness to teach, her openess and our time together helped me a lot. I learned about a life on a farm, about horses and dogs, replanting :) and I even got to ride a very clever mare.
