  My wife, our adukt son David and I live in Saint Louis, New Brunswick, Canada, a small francophone fishing village on the Norththemberland Strait about 100 km from Moncton, the province's largest city. We are bilingual (French and English). My wife and I love gardening, both flowers and vegetables. We live on 6 acres on the Kouchibouguacis River which passes through the village, just outside the village limits in a rural setting.
  
  We maintain half the property as lawns and gardens but are getting older and find it difficult to maintain the property as we would like. In exchange for room and board, we ask your help with maintaining the property and gardens. We have a 4 bedroom house with 3 complete bathroom, one being in the basement with exterior entry if you wish more privacy. We have lived in Europe and Africa so eat a wide large variety of meals.
  
  I personally love trying new foods so bring your favorite recipes. We have all the tools to maintain the property; small tractor, attachements for tilling the gardens, mowing the lawn , etc. I will give instructions on the use of these tools to ensure your safty. They are not heavy duty equipemt but for use in maintaining private property.
  
  We live 5 km from Parc Kouchibaque ,one of Canada's national parks, Vist it's site to learn it's aminities. We also have a golf course about 10 km up our road. I have a kayak and canoe for exploring the river for teasure time. The are is ideal for biking. If you want to improve one of our languages or the other, this is a great place to spend the summer. People are very friendly.

  We have lived abroad (Rome, Italy and Accra, Ghana) and love meeting people from other cultures; sharing information and learning how work is done elswhere. While in Rome, we visited most of Europe. While in Ghana we visited northern Ghana and Togo and I visted South Africa, Zimbabwe with my work. It is more difficult to travel in Africa.
  
  The Kouchiguaca National Park has biking and walking/hicking trails. Il also has one of Atlantic Canada's best salt water beaches; camping, kayaking; canoeing.
  
  Ther are festivales throughout the summer; parish breakfasts; suppers, etc. The Acadian Peninsula has various interesting attractions, my favorite is "le Village Acadien".
  
  Prince Edward Island (Canada's smallest province) and Nova Scotia are just over an hour away by car. We can do day trips and show you various atractions.
  
  We have a piano, guitars and a violin if you are musical. I play the piano and guitar but not very well. We often have sing-songs with family and friends during the spring. summer and fall. I organize a Sugar bush party mid April This is where maple sugar is made, a Canadian thing. We also have a Christmas gathering in November to prepare for the Christmas season with lots of Christmas music in French and English.

  We truly wish to learn from your experiences, culture, foods and what you celebrate. Learning is not only achieved in school but by meeting and sharing with people from other cultures.

  Ajuda

  You would be required to maintain the gardens. You don't need experience but a willing to learn.
  
  Maximum 3-4 hours a day, 5 days a week
  
  We would work with you to show you how to perform the various tasks - the various parts of gardening. For the vegetable gardens this includes planting the seedlings; preparing the soil in the garden plots; planting; maintainance (weeding, watering); harvesting and preparation for storage.
  
  Of corse learning these aspects depends on how long you wnat to stay. The flower gardens are less work as many of the plants are pernials; however new plants are planted each year and weeding is ever required! We are also open to learning from you. We only got into gradenig when we retired so don't think we are experts in the field. We learn and we go. Gardenig is best done in the morning before it gets too hot.
  
  Late afternoon is fine too however we do not work in extreme heat. You would also be welcome to participate in meal preparation if you desire. The lawn maintence takes about 4 to 5 continues hours and depending on the rain, can be required weekly or biweekly.

  Acomodação

  You will have you own bedroom either upstairs or in the finsihed basement, as you wish. There is a complete bathroom on both these levels for your use.
  
  The person would be invited to join us for all meals. I agree that shared meals are a great way of enjoying a cultural exchange As we likely get up at different times, he/she can make their breakfast, whatever they like - not required to have breakfast with us but certainly welcome to. While my wife and I will make the meals, he / she would be invited to prepare meals if so wished - perhaps their favorite food from their culture. We also have no problem with the person having a snack although we expect them to make it. We normally have our biggest meal in the evening with lunch at noon. We also invite friends from time to time. Again he/she would be invited to join us.

  Hicking, biking, on the water activities. We visit Moncton often and you would be welcome to join us. There is bus transportation north and south but it is not very efficient.

  We have reliable internet service; an automatic generator in the event of a power outage; private space for your digital work. We would need to identify your hours of digital work to match our needs with help with gardening, property maintenance, meals, etc. You would be welcome to join us for meals or make your breakfast lunch to meet your schedule. We are flexable.
