Feito pelo anfitrião para o Workawayer (Clara)
Clara's three week long visit passed in the blink of an eye! Given that the month of June is always a hectic time in our family, we doubted our ability to fully integrate Clara in our family; nonetheless she proved us wrong - bonding with each and every one of us. All the while, she was open to sharing with us, extremely nice, and always
… read more independent.
She shared her culture and traditions while giving us a taste of her day-to-day life in the Philippines and Hong Kong. We were touched and very appreciative for the gift of her presence.
Clara demonstrated a strong interest to try our French cuisine and better understand our customs, always joining us on our adventures.
During her stay, Clara contributed to our household by taking on a multitude of tasks: ironing, cleaning, cooking, gardening, and keeping tidy. We would have loved for her to spend more time with us.
After parting ways, we even started watching Korean TV shows, as we couldn’t find any Filippino ones that offered subtitles.
We give her the greatest endorsement possible for her future Workaway adventures. Of course, our door will always remain open.

The past reviews aren’t exaggerations: any Workawayer that gets the opportunity to be hosted by Karine and her family is INCREDIBLY LUCKY. I’m very thankful that I got to spend my first Workaway experience with them. The 3 shorts weeks I stayed with them gave me lots of new experiences I’ll remember for a long time.
From a cultural exchange
… read more perspective: Karine, Laurent and Alice were all very generous with their time and tried to involve me in their daily lives as much as they could despite their busy schedules. From Karine bringing me along on errand runs, to a fitness class, an opera, and even to an event in her school; to Laurent letting me hop behind him on his motorcycle and taking me to a museum; to Alice walking with me around Toulouse and sitting through lots of tv shows and movies with me when at home — they always went out of their way to make me feel like I’m welcome, like I'm part of the family.
Dinners with them were always the highlight of my day, whether it was me who cooked or it was Laurent. I love how we were both really excited to share each other’s culture through food. I made them Filipino Sinigang, Adobo, Bistek and Bicol Express, and in return, they made me discover how good it was to eat duck leg confit, homemade savory crepes, all kinds of cheeses, breads and summer salads, creme de marrons, and so much more. I ate very well during my stay there. Even better than how I usually would at home (lol).
Work-wise, the tasks were always very fair. A little bit of cleaning indoors and outdoors, ironing, gardening and cooking dinners. They were very accommodating of when I wanted or had time to do these tasks and never imposed a schedule. Most times they actually encouraged me to go out and explore Toulouse and nearby cities more instead of trying to finish too many tasks one after the other. Karine had so many tips on where to go and what to see, it was such a big help.
Karine, Laurent, Alice, Paul (and also Themis!), my heart is full from all the warmth, kindness and generosity you’ve shown me. Thank you!!

Thank you for sharing the delicious French cuisines from northern to southern France. 🇫🇷 Cooking Asian food for them was also a pleasure. 🇹🇭🇯🇵🇰🇷 It was my pleasure to share Hong Kong culture and food (Hong Kong-style French toast, Baked Pork Chop Rice) with them. 🇭🇰 Thank you, Karine, for your kindness and for being my BEST translator when we were watching TV shows together. Karine is a fantastic kindergarten teacher. I was impressed by her dedication to her students and her passion for teaching. It was an honor for me when she invited me to share some Asian culture with her class. I was so glad to see how interested and engaged the kids were.
The family is fantastic, and their active lifestyle inspired me to join them for running, swimming, and bouldering. I appreciated the opportunity to be included in their fitness routines and to see different parts of the village. Their enthusiasm and energy were infectious, and I always felt motivated to try my best and have fun. During weekends, we spent some time in museums and theatre to enjoy the fabulous choir performance of Alice.
I felt so welcomed and included in the family dynamic. Their warmth and hospitality made my Workaway experience truly exceptional, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic cultural exchange. I would give them a rating of 10 stars out of 5 if I could! 🌟

What can I say other than what an amazing time I had staying with Karine and her family.

As many in the previous reviews have said, YOU'LL BE LUCKY TO STAY WITH THIS FAMILY. Pardon, this is a late review as I got back and had to leave mid March due to Covid. Which I'm very sad about. You'll experience and learn a lot.
In terms of cultural exchange, learning French was fun! I didn't know a word of French but if you're eager to learn, the family will help. Teaching english phrases and words to the family were also very enjoyable! Work didn't feel like work at all when everyone partook or listened to music as you "work". You'll do tasks such as ironing, housework, gardening, making some meals but it never feels like a chore. Even after leaving you'll feel like they're your family away from home. Matt joined our family in the middle of February. It was no time before he was taking part in all our activities. Whether it was biking, skating, running, climbing or going out to the circus and art exhibitions, Matt was always into it. Fitting in was second nature !

While the family was occupied Matt was a highly independent worker, effectively tending to his own workload while still having time to take advantage of the proximity to Toulouse.
Regarding his work, Matt helped tend to daily chores including cleaning, ironing and cooking… he’s got a secret recipie for whipping up a mean Italian pasta using nothing but garden herbs. On top of that, he cleaned up after us and helped out in the painting of a large wall. For all of this and more, we are forever thankful.
We chatted all about our cultures, our lifestyles, we followed shows like Pékin Express… and we were introduced to American heroes life Tom Brady, Derek Jeter and Babe Ruth! Given that southwest France is rugby country this was a great opporunity for us to learn more about sports like baseball and American football. Our discussions were frequentlty characterized by the mixing of French and English while Matt made leaps forward in learning French.
Oh! I almost forgot! Matt is just a great kid, a true gentleman and always ready to take part in whatever comes his way. I wholeheartedly believe that Matt would be a great fit for others families, and as such, would like to extend my most acclamatory vote of confidence in his favor.
It was a shame that his stay was cut short due to COVID-19.
Bonne continuation et Bisous

I stayed with these guys for 4 weeks in Oct/Nov, and right from the outset this family was incredibly welcoming. I can't express just how kind they were, and how many times they went out their way to make sure that I was having the best experience possible.
Most weekdays I'd do ironing in the morning, then catch a twenty minute bus into Toulouse

With regards to learning French, these guys definitely made an effort to help me practice and had a lot patience which I'm really grateful for.
The best part about staying here was being so involved with daily activities and joining in on things like cards, sports and having great chats. The whole family has a great sense of humour which definitely made me feel more comfortable too. They put a lot of time and effort into all of their workawayers, so if you are considering staying with this family please make sure that you are also ready to genuinely join them in their lives and to give everything a good go. These guys are so kind and generous, and really do deserve the best that you can give!

De son côté, nous lui décernons la médaille d’or du workawayer qui, sans aucun cour, a le plus vite progressé en français. Bravo ! ! !
La recette pour décrire Brandon est simple :

You have to help them with English, but you will learn a lot of French as well eeeeevery day! Cleaning windows, gossip with the mum every day, bricolage with dad, loose at board games with the son, fix some stuff in the garden, ride the bike with the kids around the village, ironing some clothes, going to the school with the mum (we are both teachers) to help with the kids and gossip again, paint unsuccessfully a door, eat chocolate with the daughter...
As you can see, they are the best!

Finalement Nika est restée une semaine supplémentaire et ça nous a fait tous plaisir. Nous avons été ravis d’avoir fait ta connaissance ! Merci et tu sais que tu restes la bienvenue chez nous !

Ambroise : the workaway to have !

I stayed with the family for about two months and it was my first workaway experience. I cannot say enough how much it exceeded any expectations I had and could have asked for. This family welcomed me from the beginning and it truly was such a lovely experience. They have huge hearts and wonderful personalities. Each of the family has a sense of

I felt like I grew with my level of French greatly and it was a great exchange of French and English. The location is lovely if you want a to have a feel of authentic countryside, however it is very accessible to enjoy the beautiful city of Toulouse.
Once again I have to express my gratitude to everyone for making my time there so wonderful.
I definetly recommend doing a workaway here.
Merci!
