Our project was founded in 2017 in order help veterans in need and to protect our environment. We are accomplishing our missions by building sustainable homes and community in Taos, NM. We have a vibrant laid-back community focused on healing, and solving many of the challenges facing our society today.
If you care about veterans, or our planet, please check us out. We would love to host you! You can expect to be appreciated and included while having access to great off-grid living and natural building experts.
The main construction projects this season are building an earthship (MarchAprilMay), a tiny house remodel (June) a walipini (July), Outdoor kitchen (August), and a healing space (SeptOctNov). We have other smaller projects such as planting and harvesting the hoophouse, setting up yurts and teepees, helping the poverty stricken community around us, and much more.
You will be very busy getting dirty in the desert, eating GREAT food and will have an amazing time working with us out here just across the gorge, outside of Taos, New Mexico. Our goal is to have meals that are comprised mainly of vegetables that we grow onsite. We would like to incorporate communal meals with everyone taking turns in meal prep and clean up.
The Taos Valley is an eclectic cultural mix of indigenous natives, transplanted multicultural communities and transients from all over the world. It's truly a meting pot and we are extending our passion for natural building worldwide by hosting our sustainable building projects for folks to come lend a hand!
The surrounding area is absolutely stunning. We are just a few miles from a Rio Grande access point for rafting, floating, and swimming. We have million dollar views of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range, and there are tons of hiking trails to explore! The hot springs nearby are almost as amazing as the brilliantly shining milky way.

Our little town and off grid community is diverse. We are also only a short drive to Taos, which offers a wide range of culturally diverse venues to explore. Indigenous natives live all over Taos county and we have multiple native americans whom volunteer and on whose properties we also provide volunteer help and technical assistant on natural building. Natives also know a few things about adobe and pueblo constuction methods. The Tiwa people and the Taos Pueblo are a must see on your visit to Taos.
Depending on your interests, we will do our best to find fulfilling and rewarding work within our project. We are looking forward to meeting new travelers in search of amazing experiences. Natural Building, techniques for enhancing desert off grid living methodologies/technologies are among the projects that we will be offering our workaway's!
