Detalhes
Descrição
We live on a beautiful piece of land in rural Texas, full of lush green hills, towering pines, oak savannahs, and wild animals, about 1 hour's drive from Austin. Our goal is to restore the natural environment and build community. Volunteers can help with fun projects in our garden, forests, beehives, and daily life. This is a home, not a business, so everything supports life here :)
Hosting and cultural exchange are a major part of our lives. We love the opportunity to share experiences and culture with volunteers. Our family includes people from the first generation American, Lebanese, and LGBT communities. We speak many languages here (and are especially excited to work on Spanish with the children). We've also traveled the world with Workaway, hitchhiking, music, volunteering, teaching, etc.
So far, we've hosted volunteers from Colombia, Iran, Canada, China, Mexico, Iraq, USA, Korea, Spain, Bulgaria, Brazil, Denmark, Zimbabwe, Japan, France, Germany, Algeria, Norway, England, Sweden, Australia, Italy, Ukraine, Switzerland, Belgium, Scotland, and Lithuania.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
This is an inclusive place of natural beauty, peace, and sharing community. Our family includes people from the first generation American, Lebanese, and LGBT communities.
We want to learn as much as we can from you -- and hopefully we have something to offer too :) We've lived our lives based on cultural exploration and exchange. Maybe you'd like to practice Spanish or Arabic, learn how to compost or keep bees or tour in a band or play the piano, talk about Mishima or Goethe or Wong Kar Wai, hear about immigrating from Lebanon in the 1970s, imagine ways to make "permaculture" more than a buzz word. We try to approach all these things in a humble, open way. We are always striving to broaden our understanding with fellow lifelong learners on Workaway.
There are also 3 major cities, some small towns, and many beautiful places within 2 hours. But please note - we cannot chauffeur guests around. We go to town sometimes, but not very often. If you want to spend a lot of time in town, you will need your own vehicle.Projetos que envolvem crianças

Ajuda
We have a small vegetable garden and some beehives -- only for our own consumption, not for sale. We use permacultural practices (greywater, native focus, compost, hand-pollinating, no spraying, etc.). We are also trying to restore the forested land by planting and watering native trees. We love to cook meals together, and are also looking for volunteers who would like to help with Spanish or music teaching.

All food is provided (3 meals + snacks). Everything here is yours to share. We're mostly (but not all) vegetarian. We have a guest trailer with beds. We use compost (dry) toilets. 16 acres to freely roam :)
Algo mais...
We need volunteers to be COVID-vaccinated, since we have a 75-year-old with a history of lung issues living here. Thank you for understanding!
