We are a busy family living in a beautiful 19th century house in the Lee Valley near Cork City in Co Cork. We grow our own produce and we are looking for one or two workawayers to assist our gardener and learn about gardening as well as general help around the property. In July, there is also a lot of fruit picking.
I (Belinda) am originally from London but have lived here in Ireland for the last 21 years. My husband (Peter) is often away travelling on business. We have four almost adult children who are also away studying during the academic year. I work part-time as a furniture restorer and am also studying for a diploma in Cork University.
We have two dogs and two cats and I might also ask you to look after them if we have to go away.

We are an English-speaking family but have all travelled a great deal. Between us, we also speak German, French, Italian and Spanish. We enjoy meeting people from other cultures and would love to give you the chance to experience life in an Irish country house. In return for your help, you would have the chance to explore this beautiful part of south west Ireland, from East Cork, Cork City, Blarney Castle, the Wild Atlantic coastline of West Cork and Kerry. Dublin is 3 hours by bus so also accessible for weekend visits.
We are looking two people, could be a couple or two friends who would like to spend time in rural Ireland exploring and learning about the culture here. In return, you will live in your own apartment in our grounds and learn about gardening, and possibly some help with maintenance alongside our gardener. Help might include weeding, ground preparation, fruit picking in summer, clearing leaves or undergrowth, stacking wood, strimming, lawn mowing and general maintenance, such as small painting projects. The help is mostly outdoors though of course on wet days we would do our best to find suitable indoor tasks! We would want you to help 5 hours in the mornings, Monday - Friday. Afternoons and weekends would be your own time.

You would have your own one bedroom apartment in our courtyard. There is a double room (2 beds) with an ensuite bathroom. Downstairs is a living room and kitchen. The kitchen is sometimes shared during the day by my husband when he is in his office. I will provide you with your food and you can prepare your own meals and sometimes you can join the family for meals. There is excellent wifi. It is a beautiful and peaceful spot and it is a short walk into the village where there is a pub and a bus stop with buses into Macroom and Cork city.
Our home is in a small village next to the River Lee. From our house you can walk to the village where there is a lively pub and local community. There is also a bus stop where you can take the bus into Cork city (25km) and to Macroom (7km). We also have bicycles which are you are welcome to use during your stay. From our house it is easy to explore Cork city, Blarney Castle, East and West Cork, the Wild Atlantic way along the south coast from Kinsale to Skibbereen and beyond as well as the mountains and coastline of Kerry.

Our workawayers stay in their own one bedroom flat above my husband's office space where there is good fast fibre broadband and available desk space if needed.
Plenty of parking space so no issues here.
