We are a family of four (Luis and Lina and our two daughters 1 and 3 years old) living in the beautiful mountains of southern Spain, Letur.
Some years ago Luis quited his job in the city, and moved to a tiny village to become an organic farmer. After some time Lina joined him and since then we are running the farm together and try to be as self-sufficient as we can. We offer here a space where people can learn about "volunteer simplicity", organic farming or how to live more conscious.
We have used couchsurfing and workaway a lot, both, hosting and been hosted.
Since we started to host people through workaway, we can say it´s amazing!
Hosting people makes us feel like travelling, so we can mix my two passions: travelling and organic farming :)
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Since we live in an area with fresh and clean air, we are not able to host smokers.
We stopped hosting people for two years to have family time and now we would like to start again. Some things changed though. We are living now in a small house that we built in the traditional style using natural materials 1 km away from the old big farmhouse where we used to stay with volunteers and where you would be hosted.
You can help with organic farming, taking care of the olive trees and of the vegetable garden, building walls to prevent erosion, and also help with cooking or whatever is needed.
The plan is to host at same time around 3 or 5 volunteers...but sometimes we are 10 in total!
If you like fresh organic food, this is your place!
The area where the farm is located is having less and less inhabitants, so people who would like to find a place closer to the nature where to live, and to make their own projects become true, and share ideas and good moments with like-minded people are welcome to have a look!

This is a place to learn about "deep Spain" culture, and also where to learn about organic farming, eco friendly ways of building, or where just to spend a nice time playing cards :)
We are really involved in protecting the "culture of water" of the valley, trying to keep the traditional way of watering the fields with open channels (acequias). You can see more here:

Ajuda
The volunteers can help with the farm (we plant a lot of different vegetables), or cooking, or wichever task we could have..
In our opinion, volunteers are volunteers, not slaves, so don´t worry! You can choose what you prefer to do.
We were also a volunteer on workaway, and we enjoy a lot to travel in this way!
If you are interested in visiting the farm, we would rather prefer long stays, like 2-3 months, but if this is too much time, don´t worry, you can stay a shorter time!

Acomodação
The house where you would be hosted is 15 minutes walking from our little house where we are living. We will work every morning together and share at least one meal a day (we will provide food for all the other meals, don´t worry!)
In the house there is no electricity, but you can come to our house to charge all the electronic devices. If you are open to life a different experience, it can be very nice to live with the rythm of the sun :)
We have beds, blankets and everything you can need...so far volunteers didn´t have any problem!

Letur, the village where is the farm, is a very beautiful place, surrounded by rivers and mountains, and it could be called "deep Spain" :)
To arrive here can be a bit hard using public transport, there is only one bus coming everyday from Albacete to Letur at 14:00 (this bus is not available on weekends)

Can agree with other feedback. The farm is beautiful. I learned a lot about the experience of living on a farm. We did a lot of pruning, also other jobs like making a nursery and little things. Lina and Luis are very kind. I also enjoyed having lucia around.

I cannot begin to describe how amazing my Workaway experience was with Luis. The work was fun and rewarding and the overall environment of this Workaway led to the making of friends. I personally learned a lot in my two weeks there about working on the farm, Spanish language, culture and much more. Thanks Luis! Until next time!

This was my first workaway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one! Luis is so welcoming and really has become a friend. He and his family treated me as if I was one of their own. The farm was hard work but so enjoyable with Luis and other volunteers by my side. Such a good experience!
