  Kia ora,
  
  We are Caitlin and Arthur, a couple in our late thirties, soon to be family of three, and a wee dog. We have the privilege of living in the beautiful Whangārei Heads, nestled beneath the majestic rocky outcrops of Bream Head, a 10 minute walk to Ocean Beach, (surf, dive, lounge, walk), with longer bushwalks just outside the driveway (Te Whara Track, Peach Cove) - with some of the best coastal views in the North Island.
  
  We love the great outdoors, and spend a lot of time on/in the water. Arthur is an enthusiastic fisherman and we both free dive/snorkel. If the weather is favourable and our work schedules allow, we will get you out on the boat for a fish/snorkel, or surfcasting in one of the nearby bays. We are relaxed and happy, Arthur works in communications and Caitlin is a potter, we have both traveled a lot and value meeting people from different backgrounds, and enjoy hosting.
  
  We have an approx. 1 acre section that we want help with to maintain and develop: weeding, planting natives and ornamentals, and landscaping; along with general maintenance and incremental house changes/renovations.
  
  We do expect you to be mindful of others work and contribute with cooking dinner and doing dinner dishes, as well as generally cleaning up after yourself. Likewise we expect you to be mindful of shared spaces - i.e. no youtube videos, podcasts, phone calls etc., when you are sharing a space as it impacts others experience.

  Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

  Ocean Beach is a friendly neighbourhood, so you will likely have opportunity to interact with the neighbours through home pop ins and regular social events - depending on timing!
  The house is right next to the headquarters of the local conservation trust (Bream Head Conservation Trust) and there is potential for group volunteering activities, i.e., moth plant weeding or planting of natives.
  There are multiple bush walks around Bream Head, including locations of cultural and historical significance. There are kiwi in the conservation park you can hear from the house at night.
  There are surf lessons available at Ocean Beach.
  Beach and bush walks are popular so while its a remote location its also a populated location/opportunities for friendly yarns.
  Caitlin goes regularly to the Quarry Art Centre in town, where there are various art activities to explore.
  We go into town at least once a week so there will be opportunities for us to show you around or to drop you to explore - depending on work schedules at the time.
  We both work from home so will be around for connection and chats.

  Ajuda

  Gardening.
  Our section is approx. 1 acre, it is currently a bit overgrown with a lot of general weeding to do; cutting out of large agave plants and replacing them with other border plants; rewilding some areas of the property with manuka and kanuka; planting fruit trees; lawn mowing; vege garden maintenance; filling and planting up decorative planters; there is also more significant landscaping to be done, depending on your skill/capabilities.
  Most of the gardening tasks will only require basic common sense and some physical fitness, we will take you through them and leave you to it. Some may require more muscle but we will only give you what is within your capabilities. The planting we may do together.
  
  House tasks.
  This could be anything from furniture waxing to window cleaning or some light renovations, i.e., sanding and painting. Some of which we may do along side you, or show you the tasks and leave you to it. You will be expected to clean up after yourself and generally participate in maintaining a clean living space. Tasks may include some cleaning but nothing gross or unreasonable.

  We are interested in learning te reo if you are a local traveler. Both beginners, Caitlin knows a bit more than Arthur. Both have between basic and intermediate Spanish, interested in improving.

  Acomodação

  You will be staying in the yurt or the spare room.
  The yurt:
  a cosy, luxurious, sanctuary with its own outdoor shower and toilet. This is more like a little house than a tent and is fantastically peaceful and wonderful. There are two double beds in the yurt so it is suitable for singles, couples, friends, or even a small family.
  
  Spare room:
  Cosy room inside the house, noone else sleeps inside so you will have privacy.
  
  Kitchen will be shared, help yourself to the cupboards, re meals, we'll most likely share dinner some of the time/ fend for ourselves others, and sort ourselves out for other meals (will see how this evolves over time). We eat pretty healthy, largely whole foods, meat eating though not every night. Vegetarians/vegans welcome, you'll just have to cook more.
  
  Internet in the yurt can be patchy, internet in the house is good and unlimited.
  
  The house itself is large with a lot of living space you can access, fully equipped kitchen, large deck, outdoor bath.
  
  If we have guests or multiple workawayers who aren't travelling together one of you may be in the spare room/otherwise located but we will discuss this with you.

  There is a lot to explore in our area within a short drive. You could get away with staying for a week without a car but to make the most of it or for longer stays, you'd want your own vehicle - there are endless gorgeous bays and nooks to explore, and we are at the end of the road, 15-20 mins from the nearest shop. If you don't have a vehicle, we could pick you up from the airport, this is about half an hour away, or the bus stop in Whangarei, about 40 minutes.

  The yurt does not have great wifi and cell phone reception is variable depending on provider, you'd want your own reliable source if using it for work. There is a spare room with a desk inside but if we had other guests you'd have to vacate. This is a tentative yes to digital nomads really, we'd have to test it to see how it worked out. We wouldn't want someone working in the living room regularly.

  We would potentially accept well socialised and well trained dogs. We live beside the conservation park and the property is unfenced, so it is imperative that any dogs are well managed and this is taken seriously.
