I have no words to describe Javier, Jasmine and Emeric´s kindness, but I´ll give it a try. They received me with open arms and opened their home to me. I had the opportunity to stay with them for 5 weeks. I had my own room in their beautiful property in Cantabria. Dreamy, green and peaceful. Their dog Ginger and cat Maui were also lovely. I helped
… read more them painting, fixing a roof, applying a coat of protection, among other tasks. They had several useful tools.
We shared several meals, and great conversations. Delicious food on the table. Javier and Jasmine were always open to communication and were also very attentive to my well being.
The property is located in the mountains. You´ll have the opportunity to have wonderful hikes, among sheeps, cows, green grass and stone houses. The towns nearby, pittoresque. Neighboors preserving old traditions.
I´ll always carry the memory of the green mountains, the shy spring coming, the fire by the living room.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my two weeks with this lovely family in their magical home in Cantabria, and I would've loved to stay longer if I could!
I'm really glad I got in touch even though you weren't looking for help at the time and I'm so grateful you said yes and it worked out for both of us! I did a whole variety of tasks (weaving support for
… read more the roses, sorting and stacking firewood, cleaning the porch, weeding, or general help in and around the house...), and Javi always made sure I had alternative projects that I could do indoors when it was raining, like cracking nuts. His and Jasmine's instructions and expectations were always clear and they were always happy to clarify further. They were also so appreciative and generous with their lovely feedbacks as well as their time and energy!
And Emeric was sooo much fun to be around and was amazing at helping me feel welcome, accepted, and at ease from the very first moment, I wish we had more time!
This was really nice, peaceful, quiet break amidst all the business of my life right now, and the endless amount of love from Ginger and Maui just made it even better. :)
Thank you all so so much for sharing a bit of your life with me, I'm looking forward to continuing where we left off!
We where there last may, we stayed in our motorhome nere the church.
I (Paul) walked every day to the house to help with the dogs, horses, and chickens.
In the evening we cooked the diner together.
We had a very lovely 2 weeks with Jasmine and Emeric, Javi was away to Germany.

La casa es preciosa, con una gran historia de por medio y rodeada de un gran paisaje. Destacar especialmente los animales que tienen, son libres y muy lindos!!! Echaremos de menos a Ginger y a las yeguas.

Where do I start..?
My home away from home. My extended family. I have visited and helped around la sota three times now and I have loved every second of every mintue of every day I have spent with Jasmine, Javi, emeric, yuki, meowie, todas las gallinas and the very friendly roster and of course the beautiful horses. … read more family who will always be apart of my life. They have taught me some much about life/love/traveling and I am forever grateful. I highly recommend volunteering at la sota as it is situated in one of the most beautiful valleys (perfect for hikes and afternoon runs ::) in the north of Spain, you will make life long friends and you will enjoy life to the fullest while helping a family who really appreciate every little thing you do for them. The loving atmosphere at la sota will mend your heartache or homesickness, the delicious family dinners will never leave you hungry and the labour/volunteer tasks are always different and never dull or boring. During my time spent at la sota I have helped build a watering system, built a stone pathway with my good friends from England, lay the stone patio with my german friends, OCD clean-up of javis workshop ect....

Nico and Sina (and Nelly of course) were absolutely lovely to have around. Our garden was in dire need of some attention and they DUG in there with love and determination, the transformation has been incredible! We are blown away by their comitment and enthusiasm. They are very warm and kind, their home is beautiful and it was a great introduction to workaway.

It was such a pleasure getting to know Jennifer that we were truly sad when the time came to say goodbye. She took excellent care of our horses, they received such tender keen attention that we returned home to find them happier, healthier looking animals than before we had left. She is full of initiative and takes on projects of her own will,
… read more recognizing a task that needs to be done. Our dog is a dear friend, and he was clearly a good buddy with Jennifer, accompanying her as she worked outside and tending to the horses, or going for walks. We have a cat too, and I think even she misses Jennifer.
Over the course of the last six years we have travelled quite a bit, spending more than half the year away each year, each time we have had a house sitter to care for the animals and our home (which has a few peculiarities that require special attention owing to the type of heating and water treatment systems we installed when we rebuilt our home). We've had the experience of working with plenty of volunteers from different associations too. Jennifer really stands out. Her communication skills are excellent, she is a very capable individual, she is lots of fun to be around and hit it off with our son right from the get go, and she's full of energy.
We really hope to see her again, and soon.

I stayed for one month in jasmines and javis house and i had a really great time! Their house and places around are very beautiful and just welcome you to feel good. I enjoyed the familiar atmosphere a lot. They cook delishious and helped a lot with managing things for the travel or a hiking trip in their area.
