We fell in love with this place and we want to share it with you.

A couple of years back I (Adrian, 40, the "Man of the House"), decided it is time to take advantage of the remoteness of Romania and find a secluded place where we could start building the cabin of our dreams. Growing up in Romania was a little bit of a nature lesson for me and eventhough I spent the first part of my adulthood abroad, trying to make a living, in the end, the childhood years resonated in me. Something has been drawing me to the heart of nature for quite some time and this year, during the pandemic, I managed to find "perfect spot".

I showed the place to my wife (Cristina, 34, "lady of the house") and son (Teo, 11, "the geek") and they loved it instantenously. Hash, our Belgian Malinois (that's a dog), also loved the surroundings when we first went there for a reconosaince.

So 3 weeks ago we bought two cabins, finished in 2008, right on the edge of the forest, on a hilly top, in one of the most pitoresque and remote villages in my county, Prahova county. Practically the place is right on the downhills of the Carpathians, on a parallel valley than the one that most of our mountain turism is developed. It benefits of the same landscape but it's totally remote and totally secluded.

On top of that, the area has a totally unexplored cultural background, with the village even having a Roman Encapment dating back to the first century, while the Romans were invading these lands. Unfortunatelly our Archaeology forums are not really doing a lot about exploring this area that has Medieval clues all over the place.

The cabins have been finished back in 2008 but they were not really used, most probably because of some bank problems of the original investor. They were closed for 13 years until I came and bought them. One of the cabins has the roof partially collapsed as nobody tended it for such a long time. It needs some work but it can be remade quite easily.
The other one is operational, it can host up to 8 persons. It has a large living area downstairs, 3 bedrooms on the first floor and one on the attic. All of the rooms have bathrooms but you can imagine they are unoperational. They are practically new but it needs some plumbing. The electricity is not currently working but this is the first thing that I will do during the spring.

The cabins both have brand new wood central heaters so those can be put into working order too if, by any chance, somebody with skill and a will of travelling will pop-up :)

Even so, this cabin can be used without a problem during the summer and we will manage to find solutions for the water needs as the water is enough in the wells the property has, up in the forest.

The view is breathtaking and the air is pure so we await for you with open arms :)

What can u do around the area?

    Well, let's see:
    - I have already discussed with some folks around the village that are more than willing to teach you guys how to ride a horse... real riding, through woods and all.
    - for the most fearfull they can give you horse and carriage joy rides when travelling to the store to buy different goods
    - we can have offroad trips up to the sheepfolds around the mountains. You will be able to learn about some of the last people that are living remotelly, by will, for months. You will be able to make your own cheese BTW.
    - you can bike all over the area, either through the village or, if you are more daring, through the woods.
    - you can enjoy absolute sound and visual silence during the nights. The sky up there is incredible during clear nights and there is absolutelly no light pollution.
    - you will be able to do charity work like plum harvesting for making the "very special" palinca. You can try it also ;)
    - this is a really great mushroom gathering area so for all of you, mushroom enthusiasts, you must check it out.

I would need help with the renovation of the house. Gardening ,fence repair ,cleaning I am not sure about the exact steps. Once the snow is gone I have to clean the walls, check the wood, clean the place and decide what way to go. We are at our own in this project so counseling would be great if you have experience with renovating old houses. Our budget is pretty low and I have to do lots of stuff by myself. I am ready for it.

    Algo mais...

The area is Valea Borului, Prahova ,România.

I can pick you up from the Otopeni airport and eventually drop you back.
By car, the location is fairly easy accesible.
If by any chance you would come by train (why would you do that?!) I can also pick and drop you from some Ploiesti City train station.

The whole Prahova area is full of Romanian culture, both current and old. The area is close to Bucharest so anything around these areas are pretty easy accesible. I live in Ploiesti for most of my time so dropping you somwhere around this city is easy for me.
