Learn new skills and experience navigating an old Dutch Barge from Belgium to the Netherlands

  Hi dear traveller.
  I'm living on my ship, a 113 year old Dutch Barge and I need some assistance from one or two English speaking helpers or a couple.
  
  So.., I have been living in Belgium and have started to move my ship to the Netherlands. This journey may take a few weeks or longer. (As long as prior notice is given and I have time to find other helpers I am ok if you cannot complete the journey or you wish to join mid-journey.) The ship is 24m long, spacious, dry and warm and has most of the facilities you could wish for. We will be navigating various commercial canals and rivers on our way and often these will be busy waterways, so you do need to be keen, alert and reasonably fit. (I'm not so fit anymore and tire easily...which is one reason I need your help.) We will be sailing for four or five hours a day. I will teach all you need to know about throwing ropes and passing through locks etc., mooring, care of the ship and how to steer the the ship. You will have your own room/rooms and I will provide the food. We can share household tasks, though hopefully you will enjoy cooking and undertake that most evenings. Doggie walking in unusual places will also be one of the joys for you as Fred needs a half hour or so, sniffing about every morning and every evening ...and sometimes if we stop off for a bit.

  You will meet me and my doggie and experience travelling through some beautiful cities and countryside in Belgium and the Netherlands. You will also learn how to navigate and care for an old Dutch Barge.

  Ajuda

  Assistance with navigating this 113 year old barge. This will include general light maintenance. Cleaning of the ship, inside and out, help through bridges and locks etc. Steering the ship safely. All safety equipment provided as required...all tools available. Help with cooking and cleaning....hopefully having fun as well. During the journey there are often quite long periods of time where one can just enjoy the passing countryside.

  Single private bedroom/ Double private bedroom. Shared bathroom/shower and use of all facilities and spaces on board.

  The help is not too hard at all! But you MUST be awake and interested. If you commit to this journey, please ensure that you really do want to come. It's very possible that we could make trips out to visit various locations along the way.. I can teach you dowsing!! I can introduce you to meditation and there are interesting conversations to be had as well. I have a lot of art equipment available which you can use.
