Alicia stayed at our farm for a month, helping my husband while I was overseas. She was very conscientious, excellent with the animals; dogs, horses, poultry and cattle. Alicia performed a diverse range of tasks including feeding the horses and bottlefeeding a calf. She used the ride on mower. Maintained the orchard. Helped treat cattle for

I stayed for two weeks with Fiona and Alex and had a really amazing time!! It was my first time doing workaway and I’m so so glad I got to stay with them.

The work I did was always very fair and I learned a lot! Some of the tasks I did was weeding/mulching the orchard, cleaning the shed, feeding the animals and helping with cattle work. Fiona and Alex both helped me when I had a question and always explained what they expected. After a few days, I got into a routine which I really enjoyed.
I also got to spend a lot of time with Fiona and her three lovely horses Fairy, Ava and Monash. Fiona explained me a lot about clicker training which was amazing and I helped her with grooming them and getting ready for rides. It was always a pleasure to watch her work with her horses and I got to start clicker training with Fairy which was so great!
Besides the cows, horses and chickens, they have three amazing dogs. Stella, Ben and Reggie are really lovely and they love to play ball or cuddle. I will miss them so much!
During my stay, I also had the opportunity to explore a lot of places around their home. Whenever it was possible, they took me with them and I always enjoyed our trips. Besides, they picked me up and dropped me off at the train station when I arrived/ left which was super nice!
The food they both make is absolutely amazing. There is my life before having their breakfast, lunch and dinner and then my life after having it, which I absolutely prefer! :) Every meal was different and really delicious.
I highly recommend staying here if you want to experience farm life!!

Alicia is an extremely mature and thoughtful young woman. She fitted right into our family and worked extremely well with the other helper we had at the same time. She picked up every task asked of her easily and did it to the best of her ability. Alicia fed, rugged and groomed the horses. She put on fly veils and helped me tack up. She handled
… read more the horses confidently and calmly. She also helped with cattle work and gardening. Alicia saw things that needed to be done and did them. She also prepared a classic dish from her region. I would recommend Alicia highly and we'd love to welcome her back any time.

We have stayed with Alex and Fiona a few times now since our first time in November. Honestly for our first work away we couldn't have got better hosts, really friendly people, very knowledgeable and helpful. Welcomed us from the beginning didn't feel awkward at all.

Both alex and fionas cooking is amazing and that's a massive bonus for anyone
The dogs are great so loving and friendly all have there own personalities which is great when you meet them.

Stuart and Rennie stayed with us for 3 weeks and they were fantastic. They are really good helpers who learn really quickly. They fitted in harmoniously in the house, chipping in and helping even after a hard, hot days work. While here they did a large amount of fencing, using the tractors and power tools as required. They helped with cleaning up
… read more metal and old fences. They were able to help independently and were very competent. They also fed the horses and house cows. We were so confident in their abilities we left them to farmsit one weekend while we went to Sydney. They cared for horses, chooks, dogs and cattle while we were gone. To top it off they both have a great sense of humour and we enjoyed their company. I would highly recommend then to any hosts.Comentário

Fiona and Alex were the most amazing hosts!! I stayed with them for about 10 days and loved my routine that I got into while I was there. I got up around 7am to feed the horses, and did a couple farm chores during the day, and then we all were in bed before 10pm. The misty mornings were so relaxing and I saw some beautiful sunset, too. … read more work I did was weeding/mulching the gardens, cleaning out loose hay from the stable, mowing the riding area in preparation for laying down sand, and feeding animals. I found all of the work to be very fair and honestly sometimes therapeutic!
I was lucky enough to be there when the first calf of the season was born and we ended up having to bottle-feed him which was very cute. I also went on a trail ride with Fiona and her neighbor which was lovely! On my day off, Fiona dropped me off in Port Macquarie, and I walked all around the town, up the coast, went to the Koala Hospital (highly recommend!), and saw whales at Tacking Point Lighthouse. I also got to watch Fiona clicker train and ride her ponies a few times.
Not only was the scenery gorgeous and the work easy, but the food that Fiona and Alex made was 5-star quality!! They made some very creative, balanced, diverse meals and I literally loved every meal. The conversations I had with them were also very entertaining, and both Fiona and Alex have a great sense of humor. I loved watching sports games or a show with them in the evenings and completely fell in love with all of the animals during my stay. I highly highly recommend this Workaway for anyone looking to be close to Port Macquarie and who wants to experience a relaxing farm life.

I loved waking up early in the morning and taking in the fog covered hills with cows roaming around. The work mainly consisted of painting their house which was a task Fiona and I tackled while she introduced me to Australian indigenous music. On hot days, she made sure we stayed hydrated and start a bit earlier and move onto an indoor task if needed. The dogs, Stella, Ben, and Reggie stole my heart and will want to play fetch w you. Oh and I was able to bottle feed a calf, Midget. The cutest little thing. Fiona and Alex were happy to answer any of my questions about their property and discuss life in Australia. They've also travel so much it was great to hear their recommendations.
I stayed for two weeks and would have loved to stayed longer if I didn’t already have plans. A good relaxing stop in between Brisbane and Sydney. Port Macquarie had a great costal walk and a Koala Hospital you should check out if you are lucky enough to stay with Fiona and Alex. I didn't have a car so stayed on the property most of my time though they were able to drop me off in town if schedules aligned. If you want to see the sights more a car is recommended.
