  We are looking for volunteer helpers in rural home – life in nature, help in everyday life and the opportunity to get to know beekeeping.
  A little about us. We are a friendly family with three children who live in a beautiful rural property on the riverbank. The father of the family is a carpenter by education - he takes care of bees, repairs machinery, does construction work, collects firewood, mows grass and does other farm work. The mother of the family works with the household, beekeeping products, keeps accounts, studies Latvian bathhouse traditions and herbal science, prepares various cosmetics with herbs. Our everyday life is connected with nature, and we will be happy to welcome positive, responsive people who want to experience rural life in Latvia into our environment. We have cats, which we would like to inform you about if you are allergic to animal fur. The nearest city is 18 kilometers away.
  
  What we offer:
  Living in our home (accommodation in an unrenovated attic),

  A peaceful environment close to nature (river, fresh air, silence),

  What we are looking for:
  
  Responsible, reliable and positive people,
  Readiness to help ~4–5 hours a day.
  People who are able to help independently and with initiative,
  Openness to life in a family environment with children.
  
  Mutual respect, simple and pleasant togetherness are important to us. This place will be especially suitable for those who want to be closer to nature, get to know summers in Latvia, learn something new and experience a peaceful rhythm of life. It should be noted that we have not used such an opportunity to attract volunteer helpers before, so this will also be a new experience for us. We speak English at an intermediate conversational level, but we hope that this will not be an obstacle to communication.

  We haven't had the chance to travel the world yet, so we see this as a great opportunity to meet people from other parts of the world. We also see it as an opportunity to broaden our horizons, make new friends, and improve our English skills.
  We will be happy to meet people from different countries and cultures, share everyday life in the countryside and Latvian traditions. With us you can learn gardening, greenhouse tasks, beekeeping and natural product preparation. In your free time, you can go for walks in nature, enjoy bonfires or just have a quiet time by the river.

  What help is expected:
  Tasks in the greenhouse and garden,
  Cleaning up the environment and household chores,
  Mowing the grass,
  Stacking firewood,
  Assistance with small construction tasks,
  Small house tasks (cleaning, tidying up),
  Cooking meals (sometimes together, sometimes independently),
  Sometimes – help with looking after the children,
  Additional option: If you are interested in bees, you can go with them to the bees. This is not mandatory, but it can be a valuable and interesting experience.
  Of course, the help to be done may vary depending on the time of your arrival and what is most important at that moment.

  Acomodação

  Accommodation is in the attic of an unrenovated house - it's hot there in hot weather and cool in cold weather - attic is suitable for living in the summer. Bedding is provided. There is access to a bathroom and kitchen. Living conditions are simple in a small house. In good weather, it is possible to spend the night outside in a tent.
  We provide food, as well as products so that you can cook something yourself in the home kitchen.
  We usually cook breakfast and one proper meal a day, the rest of the time everyone finds or makes something for themselves. We eat simply. We rarely eat meat, the food is more vegetarian.
  We also use home-grown and local products.

  When visiting us, you should be prepared for both hot and dry weather and rainy and cool days. In hot weather, it is pleasant to cool off in the river.
  In your free time, you can go for walks, bike rides, and use local public transport to nearby cities. If necessary, we can take you to the local city by car.
  You have to be prepared to be alone some day, in case we suddenly have to leave for work or other business.
  Wi-fi is available at home.
  
  We are an ordinary Latvian family who works on their farm, sometimes watches a movie and eats a snack in the evenings, sometimes lights a fire, goes swimming in the river, goes to the forest for mushrooms or listens to music. If you are interested in visiting Latvia and getting to know us, we will be happy to welcome you.
