Cultural center welcomes volunteers in Valea Zalanului, in the heart of Romania

  We are a romanian-german couple (35 and 36 years old), Raluca, who is a restaurateur for cultural heritage and a traditional medicine practitioner, and Gabriel who is a geographer. We have two locations where we need help. one location is in Valea Zalanului, Covasna county, know for the holiday houses of King Charles III. Here we are building a educational and cultural center with a museum for Traditional medicine, a botanical garden for medicinal plants and a classroom. The other farmstay is in Nima Raciului, close to Cluj Napoca and Targu Mures, where we cultivate the medicinal plants used in our cosmetic and food production.
  Our Homestays are a place where people can find a connection with the nature and with the rural life, where they can learn about susteinable life, traditional medicine and cultural heritage.
  Our main point in this project is to restore the former image of our homestay and work with our neighbors for a better and ecological lifestyle.
  During the summer we organize seminars and workshops on different subjects.

  We offer a diverse cultural exchange, learning about the rural life in a Transylvanian village. Our volunteers will learn about sustainable life, self medication and cultural history.
  In our free time, we can show you the surroundings, visit the near cities and go to cultural events.

  Ajuda

  We need help in repairing the house and the other buildings in our centre, in our garden, painting, refurbish the old barn, building fences, in restoring the old furniture, general maintenance.

  Acomodação

  We can offer as a place to sleep one independent room where can sleep up to 2 people and the living room for extra people. In the warm summers, volunteers can stay in a big tent found in our garden.
  We have a bathroom and a kitchen.
  Volunteers may need to share the room.

  Near our village is Targu Mures (26 km), an old hungarian-romanian city with many interesting sightseen and an active cultural life, such as museums, theatres and concerts halls; at 60 km there is Turda, a city know for its huge salt mine, Cluj Napoca, at 90 km and Calimani mountains at 60 km from our place.
  There is plenty of transportation posibilities from both Targu Mures and Cluj Napoca. Both these cities have an Airport and every two hours, there are buses traveling near our village in these directions.
  Around Valea Zalanului, our helpers can visit the nature, different lakes and other natural wonders. Brasov, a big city with a beautiful historical centre and many cultural event is at one hour away from us.
