I am Irish, and came here 20 years ago with my work. I fell in love with the region and moved here permanently 10 years ago. My wife and children are free range and we work to our own timetable with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wonderful nature around us. Our project entails preparing space here on the farm to accommodate students learning about agroforestry and includes reforming existing structures as well as eco projects like a cold store for fruit and vegetables, eco toilets, natural structures for use as stalls in a farmers market and learning about regenerative agriculture. Time is ticking and we are losing top soil, water and other natural resources at an alarming rate. We are part of a movement that is making a difference through education and action and we invite you to be part of this.

We have a small house that we use for guests, with fireplace, bathroom and shower facilities. When you get in touch we can send you photos. We are moving towards food independence here and your help in advancing the farm towards this will be a rewarding experience. We can cater for vegetarians and vegans and there is no shortage of great fruit and vegetables here and in the area around the farm.
In your down time there are many cultural and historical places in the region to explore at your leisure... where we are located is on the old gold road from Minas Gerias state to the ports of Paraty and Rio de Janeiro. During the winter months there are always traditional parties held at weekends in the surrounding areas with the opportunity to experience forra dancing and mix with the locals. You can find photos of the farm and the surrounding region on our Facebook pages that we can forward on when you get in contact. We are two hours from Rio de Janeiro but it seems a world away from the hustle and bustle and problems of the ‘cidade maravilhosa’. Peace and tranquility are the norm here..
