  We are a Canadian family of six living in Ome (western Tokyo). We are missionaries about to launch a school and community center beside a beautiful river in the mountains.
  
  Before having kids we traveled extensively around the world and have benefited greatly from interacting with people from different cultures and countries.
  
  Our school house will have a double function of being a community space for local people to connect as well as a school for children who struggle in traditional school.
  We love people from every religion however if you are offended by the message of Jesus this probably is not the right place for you.
  
  Accommodations are at the school house which is a few houses down from our family home.
  
  We CANNOT host anyone without travel insurance. Medical care in Japan is NOT free.
  
  Please note that it is absolutely NO SMOKING at our place, including the garden and the vicinity.

  Ajuda

  The primary responsibility during 2022 will be construction.
  In 2023 the primary role will be helping out with the school. Sharing your culture, leading art and science projects etc. Please reference your experience in either of these areas when you contact us.
  
  We are not always as organized as we'd like to be so being able to take initiative, keep track of your work hours and having a flexible attitude are essential.

  Acomodação

  The accommodation is the school house. There is a designated bedroom for workawayers. We will only host one workawayer at a time unless you come as a pair or we get your permission to have more than one workawayer share the space. You can use the school kitchen, toilet and bath.
  
  For the most part you will be responsible for buying and preparing your own food.

  You can swim in and enjoy campfires along the river, as well as multiple mountain hikes in the area.
  
  We have a sauna and a bonfire area in our backyard that you can use.
  
  Visiting shrines and temples nearby including the famous but less touristy Mitake Shrine. The Okutama Lake is about 30 minutes away by a train ride. And of course, you can visit the center of Tokyo once in a while if you miss the crowd and vibrant atmosphere there anytime, though it does cost about 1000 yen one way for the JR train ride.
  
  We live about 15 min. walk from the nearest train station.
