    Descrição

After 7 years in Berlin I moved back home to the countryside in southern Denmark, with a desire to live a slower life and a vision of a holistic environment where knowledge can be exchanged.

I'm now going into my 4th year here and it's been a journey so far, learning by doing.

I’m developing a productive garden with vegetables, herbs, berries, mushrooms, perennial systems and some permaculture elements. There’s ongoing work with soil building (compost, manure, mulching), setting up beds, planting, and maintaining crops. I also work on small infrastructure projects—simple builds, organizing spaces, improving systems.

You’ll be involved in a mix of:

Gardening (bed prep, planting, weeding, harvesting)
    Food processing (fermentation, baking, preserving)
    General help around the property

This is a good place to try out different things and get inspired. You can learn about fermentation at a fairly advanced level and be a part of actively shaping my garden.

I spend a lot of my free time in the kitchen. I bake sourdough bread, make miso, garums, vinegars, and other ferments, and experiment with mushrooms and preservation.

Outside of the practical work, I enjoy music and spend time at the piano, and I read a lot—mostly psychology and anything that helps understand how people think and how the world works.

It’s not a retreat or a polished farm. Some days are physical, some things are messy, and plans change depending on weather and season. In return, I can offer great food, a calm atmosphere, and the potential to pick up skills that might bring joy to your life.

All the produce is for personal consumption with the aim of being more or less self sustainable. Workawayers will not be involved in any business-related activities

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

You can learn quite a lot if you’re interested:

Fermentation (miso, garums, vinegars, lacto-ferments, preservation techniques)
Sourdough baking and working with different grains
Gardening in a northern climate (seasonal planning, soil building, mulching, perennial systems)
    Basic permaculture thinking
    Mushrooms (foraging, growing, processing, experimenting)
    Simple building and problemsolving

Beyond the practical skills, there’s also an exchange of perspectives. I’ve spent years exploring food, psychology, and different ways of thinking, and I enjoy conversations that go a bit deeper than small talk.

At the same time, you bring your own background, skills, and way of seeing the world, which I'm curious to hear more about.

If you’re proactive, you won’t just be helping out—you’ll leave with skills, ideas, and perhaps a clearer sense of what kind of life you might want to build (or not).

  • Ajuda

    Ajuda

I host primarily for cultural exchange and love meeting people from different backgrounds and sharing knowledge.

The main areas you can get involved change a bit with the seasons but in some way or shape will probably be related to:

Gardening and growing food (seasonal tasks, understanding soil, observing how things develop over time)
Food and fermentation (sourdough, miso, vinegars, preservation, experimenting together)
Mushrooms (basic cultivation, processing, and ideas around working with them)

The focus is on learning by doing and understanding the reasoning behind things. If you’re curious, I’ll take time to explain processes and share what I know.

At the same time, I’m interested in what you bring! Your skills, perspectives, and experiences. Whether that’s cooking, ideas, ways of thinking, or something completely different, it’s part of the exchange.

Interaction is an important part of this. We’ll share meals, work alongside each other at times, and there’s space for conversations.

  • Acomodação

    Acomodação

The house dates back to 1700s and is cosy with low ceilings and a wood fired oven for the colder months.

You’ll have your own sleeping space and bedding is provided.

Kitchen, bathroom and common area is shared.

The surroundings are quiet—open land, garden, and a small forest across the road.

Food is included, and I cook pretty much every day.

  • Algo mais...

    Algo mais...

I live in a rural area near Tønder in southern Denmark. It’s quiet, with a lot of open space, fields, and marshland.

Tønder itself is a small historic town with a few museums, cafés, and basic shops. The surrounding marshlands are part of a UNESCO World Heritage area (Wadden Sea), with a very distinct landscape—flat, windy, and constantly shaped by the tides.

In your time off, you can:

Explore the marshlands and nearby nature
    Visit Tønder and local museums
Cycle around the area (I have an electric bike you can use - it’s very flat and easy to get around)
Spend time reading, cooking, or just slowing down
Work on your own projects if you have something you want to focus on

Transport is limited. There are trains from Tønder to larger cities, but getting around locally usually requires a bike or planning ahead. I can help with occasional lifts, but you shouldn’t rely on it daily.

The German border is close, so it’s easy to cross over for a different setting if you’re curious.

Overall, this is a place to disconnect a bit, focus on practical things, and spend time in a quieter environment.
