Hello, we're Martin and Q and we would love to host you in our home in the Netherlands.

We’re a Dutch-Filipino couple—Martin, a circular economy orchestrator with the EU, and Q, a hospitality business entrepreneur—both deeply passionate about travel, exploration, and cultural immersion. While we divide our time between Europe and Asia (primarily based in Austria), we’ll be spending a few months in the Netherlands (from November to December) to carry out some light renovations on our secondary home.

We’re seeking a skilled individual or couple with experience in (and knows how to do) either indoor painting or laying laminate flooring. In return, we offer cozy, comfortable accommodation and the chance to immerse yourself in the charm of suburban life in Amersfoort, a beautiful medieval town just 30 minutes away from Amsterdam.

Our neighbourhood is peaceful, surrounded by serene lakes where swans and ducks glide gracefully, and nearby forests offer a refreshing connection to nature. Despite this tranquility, we’re conveniently close to shops and supermarkets like Albert Heijn, just a short walk away. The bus stop is only five minutes from our home, and the area is well-connected by public transportation, making it easy to explore the region. If you prefer to cycle, we also have a bike you can borrow to enjoy the fantastic biking paths that the Netherlands is known for.

We are located in Amersfoort, a medieval town with a rich history and stunning architecture. The city has a charming, old-world feel with cobblestone streets and canals, yet it’s modern and vibrant, offering plenty of cafes, boutiques, and cultural landmarks. Founded more than 800 years ago, Amersfoort is known for its medieval city centre full of photogenic buildings, lovely views, and quaint streets set around a beautiful historic centre. It is arguably the Netherlands' most liveable city: Amersfoort has won the award for being the best large Dutch city to live and work in for three consecutive years. Its central location means it’s only 30 minutes by train from Amsterdam, making it a great base to explore the rest of the Netherlands. Whether you’re interested in history, culture, or simply a peaceful retreat, Amersfoort offers a perfect blend of both.

If you have experience and are interested to help us with this project while enjoying the beauty and tranquility of our area, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re an easy-going couple who love connecting with people from all walks of life. Both of us are passionate about travel and cultural exchange. Martin speaks English, Dutch, and German fluently, while Q is fluent in English and Filipino (Tagalog, Cebuano, and Ilonggo). Our journey together has been enriched with meaningful experiences across Asia and Europe, having spent significant time in the Netherlands, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. Currently, we’ve found peace in an enchanting 12th-century moated castle in picturesque Upper Austria, which serves as our home base.

Inside the house it’s just the two of us, and we see you as part of our extended family and a new friend. We have great neighbours though in a beautiful neighborhood where everybody says Hello and are kind to each other, and we’ll happily invite you to join us for events or gatherings, but you’re equally free to decline and enjoy your time at your own pace. You’ll have plenty of time for yourself, whether it’s learning Dutch or English, relaxing in the comfort of your private room, or soaking up the serenity in our garden.

We love to share stories about our travels across Europe and Asia, the cultures we’ve encountered, or even the fascinating history of the 12th-century castle where we currently live in Austria. Whether you want to explore new languages, dive into travel tales, or simply unwind, we’ll create a warm and welcoming space for you.

We’re ideally looking for a solo traveler or a couple with solid experience in light home renovations, particularly
    - indoor (spray) painting and
    - laying laminate flooring.

The project isn’t huge—just a few key tasks to refresh our secondary home in the Netherlands, which has 3 bedrooms, an office, open plan dining and living areas, kitchen, laundry room, and a garden. We plan to paint the interiors and install new flooring on the first floor.

Since we both work remotely and aren’t the most experienced when it comes to DIY, we need someone who’s not just handy but truly knows how to get these jobs done efficiently. We're seeking individuals with proven experience, rather than those we would need to train.

    Acomodação

You’ll have a cozy private bedroom with a queen bed plus an extra single bed (if there's two of you and you'd prefer separate sleeping arrangements) complete with comfortable linens, towels, toiletries such as shampoo, hair conditioner, body gel, toothbrushes, lotion and other things necessary will be provided. The room includes a wardrobe, table and chair, with a partial view of a serene small lake and garden. The space is well-heated to ensure your comfort.

You’re welcome to enjoy all common areas in our home, including the living room where we often relax and watch great movies—Prime and Kanopy are at your disposal for a variety of films. Our garden, kitchen, living spaces, and just about everywhere in the house are all yours to use, with the exception of Martin's office and our bedroom.

During your stay, we ask for 5 hours of help each day, 5 days a week, with a minimum stay of two weeks. In return, we’ll provide you with daily breakfast and lunch, and if you end up working longer, dinner will be on us too. We’d love to gather for shared dinners from time to time! Martin is fantastic at making Dutch comfort food, while Q serves up delicious Filipino dishes which you won't want to miss. Our kitchen is fully stocked and ready for you to use, featuring everything from a coffeemaker and bread maker to a microwave, oven, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. We also have a washing machine for your laundry needs. It’s a warm, inviting space where you can enjoy good food, great company, and plenty of home comforts!

During your stay, we’ll treat you like family, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment where you’ll feel right at home.
