  Renovate & Relax at a Stunning Lakeside Retreat in Haliburton, Ontario
  Location: My cozy home is nestled near Haliburton, Ontario, on a pristine, spring-fed lake (2.5 km x 1 km), offering breathtaking southwest-facing sunsets. Situated right on the water’s edge, the property features a beautiful dock perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying sunset drinks by a fire with views across the lake.
  Surroundings: The home is close to the Haliburton Forest and Wolf Centre, with nearby golf courses, hiking trails, and a variety of local attractions. Adjacent to a 200-acre forest, the property boasts scenic trails and stunning vistas, especially in the fall, as the lake sits at one of the highest elevations in the area, offering incredible views.
  Accommodation: The property features a charming three-bedroom, two-bathroom wooden home, plus a private adjacent bunkie, ideal for travelers seeking comfort and privacy.
  The Project: I’m looking for enthusiastic backpackers and travelers (male and female) to help transform my cottage into a polished, vibrant home. Tasks include:
  • Outdoor work: Building, fixing, restoring, and cleaning the property.
  • Indoor work: Painting, cleaning, and reorganizing the home.
  Work Commitment: 4–5 days per week, 6–8 hours per day, leaving plenty of time to relax and enjoy the lake. Activities include swimming, tubing, water skiing behind my boat, and exploring the forest trails.
  What’s Offered:
  • A 2–3 week stay with great food and a warm, welcoming environment.
  • Transport to local shops for personal purchases (most food and essentials provided).
  • For those who complete the work satisfactorily, I’ll cover bus fare to the nearest town upon departure.
  • A true Canadian experience: pancakes with maple syrup, lake adventures, boating, and exploring the Canadian Shield.
  About Me: I live on the property with my two dogs and two cats, with my girlfriend visiting on weekends. My two sons live near Toronto and rarely visit the cottage.

I have a beautiful cottage on a beautiful spring plate lake in the Canadian shield, which has got the ideal summer Winter skiing and the most beautiful fall colours.
  
  If you have been to my home and travelled around my home and gone to see the things around here, the wolves were centre for Wolfrey. Research the forest biking, hiking, swimming boating skiing you will have experience everything that the Canadian Cottage life offers for Canadian people in Canada.
  
  I also cook typical South African foods I cook Canadian and international foods even some Asian foods I love cooking. I am known for being a good cook and would be more than happy to introduce you to some of the Canadian specialities like poutine, etc..

  I would like to get people to help me to do basic chores around town, painting the home inside and outside moving things around in the garden cleaning it up tidying at weeding gardening, painting when necessary cleaning when necessary, washing, etc. no heavy duty work will be required or dangerous work all the work will be related to restoring the property to its former Beauty as well as fixing things that have broken over time like steps, walkways, painting, and other activities that are required to finish the home prior to winter.

  I speak Afrikaans and English fluently and can speak some Dutch German and Flemish. All languages and skills are welcome. I have travelled all over the world and Familia was various cultures from Japanese North Korean, Korean Asian, African European and American cultures. I have travelled across most of the continents in the world for business and for pleasure and as long as you are happy to experience the Canadian Cottage country and Cottage experience, you will not be disappointed with this experience

  I offered two bedrooms in my home that have their own rooms and a shared bathroom and I have a funky that sleeps at least six people in Dormitory style areas. The home is a three bedroom two bathroom home. I have my own part of the home with my own room and en suite bathroom. The two rooms in the home share a bathroom and I have a Bunkie outside of the house which is a large renovated barn, which has a six people with a large area Where you can play music and party and hang out all night long in a dormitory style environment
  
  The home is in a very secure and safe place. The bathroom will have to be shared between all people during this day.
  
  The home has full running water, running bathrooms, dishwasher, dryer, washers, etc. that will be available for anybody to wash their clothes and perform any activities that you would do in the city
  
  As compensation, I am willing to pay the minimum wage for ONTARIO as well as provide breakfast lunch and dinner. I will ensure that for those work hard, they will be a lot of fun activities with bonfires typical Canadian s’mores and many other Canadian dinners great food as I am a pretty decent chef

  While you are here, you can go hiking you can go to the local artist. There’s many artists in this area that you can visit. You can go cycling, hiking water skiing snow skiing in the winter you can go and just backpack in the area go for hikes in the forest it’s absolutely safe nothing dangerous hereand there’s boating water skiing swimming fishing. Some of the best fishing in Ontario is on our lake and multiple lakes in this area I have fishing rods available if you’re interested to do that the towns in the area and micro breweries are also very interesting. So if you have your own transport, they will be really fun. There are lots of golf courses in the area on weekends I am willing to drop you at certain venues during the week however I am working so I will be working during the week from my home while you are here so I will not be able to transport you but on weekends, I can definitely help you get to some of these locations. There is also a local taxi company and transport available in the area.
