I had a great stay with Carole and Paul, helping with a building project and some garden work. Plastering an old stone wall, for example - it was intense work, but I found it to be very satisfying, to be able to see the results of one's work.
I found the hosts to be friendly, welcoming and easy to relate and enjoyed the meal times with them.

… read more is a hiking path directly behind the property, entering right into an "enchanted" forest with an incredible view of the Vézère valley, this was one of my absolute favorite features and I went there every day with their cute dog, Faas.
It was off-season, so I got to share a big guest apartment with another volunteer. This was really 5-star for a workaway, I had a double bed and a desk in my room. The only thing was that the walls were very thin, so the other volunteer and I could wish each other good night through the wall.
I had a special dietary requirement (non-gluten vegan), which Carole was able to accomodate. Some of the meals she set a special plate aside for me, and for the others they sponsored my shopping (tons of fruits and vegetables), so that I could prepare meals in my own kitchen and bring to the table.
Thank you Carole and Paul, I'll be happy to come again!

Carole and Paul were very welcoming and inclusive hosts. I had a super comfortable, spacious room, access to the pool, bikes, even walks with Faas the dog!
Although I didn’t learn much French, I learnt a lot more about Dutch culture and enjoyed some delicious Indonesian food. The work was satisfying; I mostly painted as well as some gardening.
… read more The scenery was amazing, so I was never bored. Carole and Paul also included me and other workawayers in most family activities and if you’re into the music this is the place for you! They have lots of instruments and even a new stage. We went on trips to nearby towns and a museum. This is my first work away and they were super accommodating, I would totally come back. It was a pleasure to spend some time with the hosts here. They requested me while I was nearby. I worked outside in a beautiful location, and an interesting renovation.
They have converted farm buildings arranged in a circular formation among green fields and hills. Part of the place was a historic cheese factory. They have a music rehearsal

I had the opportunity to meet other workers and hike the hills and old towns, ancient abbeys, ruins and forests. There is plenty to do, but a big enough space to retreat and rest. The hosts are friendly and enjoy the company of the volunteers.

Christian spent a month with us in the early spring of 2024. He is a very modest man who does not say much. Christian has done a lot of work for us. He is extremely strong and has cleared a lot of construction rubble and also done other heavy lifting work. He also worked in our gardens where he could operate the brush cutter for long periods of

But his pièce de résistance was the renovation of an old natural stone interior wall from which he first thoroughly removed the old pointing and then repointed the wall with great patience and precision. He works very independently and selected the material he needed himself, and he also turned out to be very price-conscious. On his days off, Christian enjoyed long walks, sometimes spending up to 10 hours at a time wandering around the hills.
In short, Christian is a very suitable guy who we can wholeheartedly recommend. We hope to see him again.Comentário

Not only that, but the quality of accommodation and food was exceptional, and the conversation around the dinner table was both interesting and entertaining. I had an opportunity to get involved in some music rehearsals and also descended a section of the Dordogne in a hire canoe with Luc. Paul & Carole were extremely generous hosts in every aspect, and they take great care of their volunteers. There are many traditional villages to explore nearby, some with weekly markets. Will helped us tremendously for two weeks in the spring of 2024. He is super handy, especially when it comes to carpentry. He helped build plasterboard walls, built a beautiful closet, installed large glass windows, replaced steps, repaired a fence, etc. etc.

Carole, Paul and Luc are very generous and genuine hosts. We enjoyed their company very much sharing music, food and laughter. He also proved to be very handy and precise in helping us install electricity in one of our buildings.

At the end of December 2023, he brought his sister over and we went to the United States for a short holiday. Joel, his sister and another volunteer then looked after our estate and cared for the pets.
Joel is a great musician and because we also like to make music, it worked out well. He even made a four-part arrangement for a choir that my husband Paul led at the time.
We would love to see Joel come back again.

… read more like to be included in a family, think about watching movies together/having some good talk during and after dinner/playing boardgames, do different kinds of work, weeding/painting/cleaning etc., than this is the Workaway for you! You'll also have plenty time for yourself where you can explore the neighborhood (hiking/biking) or watch movies/read books/make music/do some journaling/have your therapy sessions etc. But mind that it's a quiet place with the nearest town not so close by and a community-oriented Workaway. Last but not least, you'll fall in love with Faas, their dog, which if you want to you can walk with and the two lovely cats Amy and Rose. And if you want to go to a party, make sure you ask Luc if he wants to come!! ;)
