In a nutshell, staying with Helle & family was the best choice for me to get back on the “workaway” horse. I had been a little nervous since my last (and first) workaway experience in 2013. … read more and thankfulness. All the work the family and especially Helle do is humbling, inspiring and to me, kind of contagious. At the farm, I found my happy place planting box trees, grooming plants, digging in the ground, scraping off wallpaper and Kaffepausen 😊 Further highlights were the sunrise at Møns Klint, night walk under the stars and bright moonlight, cuddles with dog Louis and cat Bella and Helle’s cooking. In some afternoons, I stayed in to write term papers for my studies and joined the family again in the evenings for dinner and other activities. I am so grateful for all the deep conversations we shared and all the people Helle kindly introduced me to. I felt at home from day one. My two weeks (in March) on the island Møn were something else, the place feels like a secret little paradise. Thank you & see you again soon!

My experience with Helle and Jonas was amazing: they're a very kind and open minded couple! Helle is a strong, funny and positive woman, Jonas is a wise man and a bomb of energy. Together a real source of inspiration for me.

Not having specific skills for the renovation project of their new home, I helped as best I could. Helle selected for me easy tasks that I could do, during the afternoon I also had free time to relax. Communication was always clear, they were able to be patient with my poor english, every time I asked to repeat a phrase or a thought!
The mood during the working day was always positive and full of energy, I appreciated every moment from the beginning to ending.
In less than two weeks we made a beautiful connection. I'm very grateful for everything that has been (Italian christmas tree included!)
I traveled a lot by bike and met many interesting locals, I really liked that the neighbor is like a member of the family/community.
I recommend this experience to everybody.
Thanks Helle and Jonas for the time together, I really hope to see you again one day and come back to Mon Island. Italy is not far as we said!Comentário

Kris came at the right time for us and brought the skills and energy we needed in our project. A perfect match for to us and the community we live in.

How delighted I was by seeing all the tools available, in an organised way, to fulfil the painting in a proper way. This was really a relief.
When Helle showed me around it became obvious: the project she and Jonas started is immens. But also: their view is realistic and they can handle it. They don't let themselves be overwhelmed by it.

… read more their expectations regarding volunteers can be realistic too. They will not assume you are ready for al tasks on arrival. They like to ‘teach’ you: explain and show. And because they themselves are eager to work and learn/try out new things, they know well that learning goes with trail and error.

Everyday we worked together at the new farm for 5 hours. After that I had free time for relaxing or visiting the stunning island of Møn. The work consisted on
… read more preparing the old walls of the building by taking off the wall paper. I didn't have any special skill before arriving and that wasn't difficult at all. Helle selected carefully an easy task that I could do.
In the free time I relaxed myself or had long walks in the nature. There are incredible countryside landscapes in the island and that was truly relaxing. I also visited the surroundings, some beautiful villages, harbours and the famous and impressive Møns Klint.
This was my first workaway experience and it's been wonderful. Helle and Jonas made me feel part of their family and I really enjoyed having lunch and dinner together. It felt so cozy and "hyggely". I enjoyed every conversation in which we could get to know a bit more about each other and our cultures. The time I spent with them was the highlight of this experience.

I had a wonderful 3-week stay with Helle and Jonas on the beautiful island of Møn. They are incredibly kind and open-minded hosts, which made my first Workaway experience truly satisfying. I highly recommend that everyone experiences life with these amazing hosts and on the breathtaking island of Møn.

… read more working about 5 hours a day with a one-hour lunch break, and the weekends were free. However, Helle and Jonas were very flexible and allowed us to adjust our working hours if needed. During my stay, I helped with cleaning the barn, lime-washing the walls, tidying up the dried grass in the garden, and setting up a dog fence around the house.
Before arriving, I had little to no practical skills, but both Helle and Jonas were patient and provided clear explanations, allowing me to help out without any stress. So, even if you don’t have practical skills, there’s no need to worry—they will surely guide you and help you along the way.
In my free time, I enjoyed relaxing in my room with its beautiful view, as well as cycling and running to take in the stunning scenery of Møn. We shared dinner with Helle, Jonas, and the other Workawayers, which was a highlight of my stay. These meals were a chance to learn about other countries and hear everyone's personal stories—experiences that would be impossible to gain from ordinary travel.
There are so many details I could share, but the most important thing to know is that life here is truly wonderful. I’m deeply grateful to Helle, Jonas, and the other Workawayers for giving me such an unforgettable experience.

I spent 3 incredible weeks with in Møn with Helle and Jonas. It was a truly the most amazing workaway experience. To begin with, Helle is an extremely kind, bubbly and generous person. She is also very communicative which makes everything easier. There was always clear communication about what was expected of me and how she runs her household.
… read more Jonas is a very intelligent and wise person who always has insight to offer on a variety of topics. Together, Helle and Jonas have created a beautiful household with a gorgeous garden and a peaceful atmosphere.
On weekdays, we worked together on renovating a beautiful, large, old farm house that Helle and Jonas recently purchased. I spent most of my time scraping paint off of the old windows and sanding them, to prepare them for being repainted. I also spent some time painting limewash on the walls of the barn. Both of these tasks were straightforward and enjoyable to me. I'm happy to have learned these new skills.
In my free time, I was able to visit Møns Klint, spend time at the beaches (specifically Ulvshale strand and Klintholm strand), explore the town of Stege and visit some of the medieval churches on the island. Helle was kind enough to let me borrow a bicycle which made my explorations much easier but there are also two buses that go around the island regularly. … read more truly breathtaking! I loved that the area is so peaceful and calm, while also having some nearby cities that you can explore with your bike or the bus.
During the weekdays, we helped renovate the farm house down the road they recently bought.
We worked 5 hours a day and, during my time, it was mostly spent oiling and sanding window frames and tidying the new property. The time went by fast most days because I was always in good company or listening to music. And of course we had the weekends free to explore the island as we wish or travel!
There were two other workawayers there of different nationalities so it was fun to have a true cultural exchange and share life stories. There was always a good vibe in the house, clear communication, and it was a very open minded and non-judgemental environment.
Helle was also so sweet to accommodate to my vegan diet and had alternatives for me. I love cooking and was welcome to make the dinner some nights if I wanted to! I'm sure she would love to discover some recipes from your culture :)
Helle has many recommendations for things to do on the island and I was never bored. If anything, I wish I stayed for longer! I went to nearby beaches, swam in the ocean, went to the cliffs, explored the town of Stege, saw the starry night sky, met up with other workawayers, went to the local café, some little churches, and cute ceramic store nearby. I had a lot of free time to read, journal, do some painting, and practice my yoga.
I truly made some beautiful connections here and I really hope to come back to this place one day❤️
