  I'm an artist from Berlin living since 5 years at Mazara del Vallo in the West of Sicily, a 120 km from Palermo.
  4 dogs, 3 small and 1 big and a cat, all totally cute and friendly are my companions. As we've a big garden a bit of gardening fills my everyday life apart from my artistic practice. Our house lies a 300m from the rocky coast in between Mazara and Torretta Granitola in an area where the families from Mazara "City" have their summer houses, which means that most of the year there's nobody but my neighbour next door. The "City" is about 3 km away, which makes a nice 15 minutes bike trip along the coastline.
  I'm also helping out my friends from the local animal welfare, mostly concerned with the lots of sicilian stray dogs so you can also get an inside view of this job if interested.

  guests can learn about the sicilian flora&fauna , especially which wild plants are suitable for eating and there's alo an ornithological museum at Mazara, getting in contact with the local animalist scene, maybe learning a bit of italian or getting into the baroque architecture of Mazara or just thinking, writing or doing other art stuff outside.

  I'm looking for people with a sense for animals getting friends with my pets.
  In the first 2 weeks of june I'll have to go sometimes for 1 or 2 days to Palermo, so I would need somebody caring for them whilst i'm away. In the rest of the time we could do some smaller maintainance help together. A bit of DIY spirit would be therefor helpfull.
  You can use the bikes to go to the lovely center of Mazara or the long sandy beach of Torretta Granitola where is also some cosy bars.

  Acomodação

  I can offer two smaller rooms, one with double bed, one with single bed and writing desk and an own bathroom.
  Free Internet is available in the whole house and you can of course use all facilities in the salone and the kitchen as well as outside. Basic food, coffee etc. will be there and fresh vegetable and fruit can be taken from the garden or acquired for small money at the local fruit shops; often the neighbours are also bringing things and there's a very good fish market in the city.

  Visitors who bring their own car can also do trips to Selinunte with it's hue archeological park and to Gibellina for those who are intersted in postmodern architecture and urban planning. I have bikes for smaller trips and getting wether to Mazara or Torrettta is about 15 minutes. Public transport is scarse but there's a a bus to Palermo every 2 ours and also a train to Marsala and Trapani.
