I've had such a great time in Ausserferrera with Michael, Nicole, Lorenzo, Gabriel, Patrick and all the animals! This was my first workaway expierence and I am very thankful to them for making it so comfortable for me.

I usually was free on the weekends. Michael and Nicole are always happy to give you advise on nice hiking-routes! I really felt comfortable around the kids, they were so much fun.
If you are reading this, and you have doubts about coming here, I just want to say; go do it. These people are very open minded and so kind, they tell great stories and you can really laugh with them!
I will miss Zuna and Sam (the dogs), they were great company. I'll also miss the wonderfull nature that surrounds the village and the happy atmosphere of this family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to see you soon.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

We whole heartedly recommend this Workaway! This is a true farm to table environment. Staying on the farm with Nicole, Michael, and his children was a great first Workaway experience. Michael and Nicole are people of many qualities, such as seldom can be found: hardworking, well organized, generous, kind, communicative and with a pleasant sense of humour! I spend 2 amazing weeks in Ausserferrera at Michael and Nicole's place. It was really fun to work with them and the other Workawayer Lauren who was there at the same time.
It was still the end of summer (about 2 weeks in mid-September) and most of the work was haying: spreading the freshly cut grass so it dries better and then raking the hay for
… read more the truck to be able to pick it up. It was physical work so I got a lot more muscles in my arms after this trip! Nicole made sure that we did not get blisters by providing gloves, and both were explaining to us well how to do the work. The view was breathtaking. We had delicious picnic and snacks during the breaks up in the mountains.
Food: so good!! Lots of ingredients from the vegetable garden and fresh goat milk. Nicole is a very good cook and Michael made fresh ricotta cheese from the fresh goat milk, delicious!
The atmosphere was really chilled and relaxed. We each had a private room in Nicole's house, very comfortable and cosy and the fire place makes the whole house nice and warm. The week when the kids were there, is was also very nice, fun and animated. The kids are really sweet, open to new people, super well behaved and independent.
I got to learn alot about dairy goat farming, helped to build and move the electric fences and could go 'visit' the goats in the pastures around to the house and the village. Working times really depended on the weather and other things to do on the farm. The last few days, the milking goats were back down from the high pastures and I got to learn how to milk goats, so cool! I really appreciated how respectful and conscious the family is towards the goats and all other animals. I would love to come back between February and March to see lots of baby goats, that's when they are born (and see the village in lots of snow!).
Michael, Nicole and the kids are really lovely, open and generous people, I'm so glad I was able to spend time with them. Thank you!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

What a wonderful experience, I was so sad to leave!! Michael and Nicole are wonderful hosts. Michael has such an intriguing history, having travelled a massive chunk of the world! Nicole is the most hospitable, kind, hard-working human. I felt right at home and part of the family. I was spoiled with the best local and traditional cooking, a lovely
… read more room and great conversation. The boys were a treat to hang out with. Sam (the dog) & Chaia (the cat) are super lovable. The goats stole my heart!! They are so intelligent, cheeky, lovable and fun.
The work included spreading and raking hay (goat food for the winter time), building cattle and goat fences, doing a bit of organising and cleaning (what an adventure!!) and picking soooo many strawberries, it was amazing!! Learning about vegetables and flowers from Nicole and goat farming from Michael was priceless and interesting.
What a blessing to be in the most wild, spectacular part of Switzerland. The magic woods and that turqoise river with the snow-capped mountains are engraved in my mindseye. I wish I could hike up the mountain to visit the milking goats every weekend of my life! Thanks guys, it was great. Love.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I stayed in Ausserferrera for three weeks, but I wish I had more time. It was my best workaway experience so far and I hope I can come back some day! Michael and the kids are amazing, very welcoming and inspiring. I felt like home and I will never forget my time there.
The work was easy and there were different project that needed to be done.

We were lucky enough to see newborn goats and care for the younger ones.
I fell in love with the animals. I will never forget the Chickens, Connie (the best goat I ever met) and Sam (the goodest dog).
Nothing about my stay there was negative and I can only recommend this place!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

Good day everyone.
It was incredible. Michael, thank you sooo much for this experience. It is unforgettable.
And now about work and the host) We were very surprised and pleased with the area and nature where we landed. The view really amazing. First, I thought that me, as a woman would not be doing the same as my husband but I was mistaken. I
… read more was doing the same as Michael, my husband and Kit. I was not driving those machines (only as a passenger) and It was also as a roller-coaster. Really Funny) So the job was hard for both of us but doable. The nature was on our side and after long working day it could be raining so we could have a rest and do something at the house, cut wood, cooking next day. Anyway doing hay and just having 5 min break on those hills was heartbreaking. If you consider going this direction keep in mind that you have no other way of working. Only working and doing your job great. You would feel it immediately the team spirit and love of the family. And if won’t do it someone gonna be hungry. I mean goats. Michael showed himself as a happy, lovely, welcoming person you really do feel from the very beginning as a part of the family. Aslo keep it in mind, you have no other chance to not fall in love with kids. Spending time along with them also could teach you so many things and they are open for everything new. And as mountain kinds they can give you certain advices.
I would say that we are more than happy and it was the best experience so far. People go and do workaway you will never forget it.

Where to begin...Michael, Kit and the kids are amazing hosts. They live such a happy and free life and were welcoming from day one. Such a beautiful valley with such an amazing atmosphere you become a part of the family the moment you step foot on the driveway. Michael has a lot of experience and knowledge he is more than happy to share, and is

Two weeks was definitely not enough...if it weren't for visas we would have stayed a lot longer...we simply can't wait to visit again. By far one of our best ever work away experiences.
The work is obviously seasonal and dependent upon weather, but it is good simple work, albeit hard sometimes, which makes it all that much more fun. If you are serious about learning how life on a goat farm is, no better place to learn than here. Be prepared to be very involved, not just in the farming, but also with the kids, who are very energetic and as welcoming as their parents. From cooking, to haying the fields, to diy, to playing with the children, to cleaning, there's always something to do, and with the family being very relaxed, if it is too much at any point they don't mind you simply going for a walk in the mountains, or swimming in the icy river.
Obviously being a family home, it's not the Ritz, children make mess, but it is homely, has everything anyone could possibly need and is obviously very welcoming. We even stayed alone in the family's second cottage in the mountains for a few nights, whilst building up a new ceiling. This family are so generous and caring words can not describe.
The nearest shop is a drive away, so if you do need essentials, be sure to get them before you arrive, though there are regular trips to the big city...so no worries if you forget something. Plus meal times are generally a family affair...so you will be as much a part of this as everyone else.
Sam the dog may also be a little loud on arrival, but call him by name to come and he will be your best friend forever. The most caring and obedient work dog we have ever met. We love Sam
We have definitely found family friends for life here in the Swiss alps, and simply can't wait to visit again in the future. Thank you everyone xSó é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

We just had such a nice stay with all the family. We imidiately felt at home and it was easy to share and laugh all together. For the work, it was very weather dependant, but we spent most of our time outside picking up hay, herding the animals in the mountains for the summer and helping in the house cleaning and preparing meals. It felt good to work outside in this breathtaking countryside and with the lovely animals.
Michel was always aware not to make us do too much straining work as to have enough energy the other days
We really felt like we wanted us to feel good and comfortable. He also made sure that we could experience different works during our stay, wich we found touching. He is also always ready to help to make you see the surroundings and the beauty of the valley.
The house was quite hectic and chaotic sometimes, but that is life when you pass all day long working outside !
We will definitively miss them all, including the charming three open minded children wich we loved to spend time with even if we spoke different langages.Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.
