This was my first workaway experience and I think it was a really nice place for me to start off since it was a very warm and low pressure environment. The first few days I was of course nervous coming into a whole new family dynamic but the whole family is super sweet and friendly and made me feel welcome by always thinking of me; inviting me and
… read more taking me along to social things of their own. I really liked meeting and spending time with Susi and her family; everybody has their own special qualities and characteristics but their bond as a family is also part of them as individuals. It was really special for me to experience that. The house and garden itself is also very beautiful and cosy and in a super cute little town, with many beautiful nature spots around, and a lot of friendly people. Overall, especially for people a little less experienced with workaway, this is a really nice laid back experience.
Susi is a really great person. She has so much energy and inspiration that she applies to so many things around her. Sometimes it become a little chaotic ;) but that is part of life too. We had a lot of great talks and times together. I felt whatever I had to say she truly cared and was interested and really listened to me. Actually I had many great talks with many of the family members and feel I learned a lot their about my own thoughts and opinions.
Susi was super flexible about "working hours" and I had quite some free time. In terms of what kind of work we did it was very random. This was also due to the weather since I was there in winter, which made things a little harder. But if you are looking for a place where there is always something different to do you will enjoy this! Although you may be asked for help with specific tasks you can also have quite some freedom in choosing the kind of work you like to do...

We had great three weeks. Susi and all her family are very welcoming, warm-hearted, open-minded and interested in the world. We really felt like members of the family from the first day! That was awesome.
The work we did was variyng and interesting, and always relaxed.

The work was easy going and flexible. It's possible and actually productive to learn about gardening and sustainability from Susi.
