Volunteers of the world, come and give us a hand in TALTAL and PAPOSO!!!
Our main goal is to create and to bring access for people that live on isolated cities to an English learning initiative based on ALTERNATIVE schooling systems focusing on cultural exchange with English speaking volunteers.
Founded in 2013, the school is a privately run, independent, nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that teaches English to the people in Taltal, Paposo and from 2022 in Antofagasta for a Summer Camp camp (January&February) - North of Chile.
We carefully select volunteers who are able to offer extensive range of experiences and knowledge in fields such as arts, sports, agriculture, communication and languages from all corners of the world alongside many more skills they can offer. You can impact the lives of numerous children and people by donating your time and energy volunteering. Your help in our school will provide children, workers (man and women), young workers and peoplein general an opportunity to share their experiences, style of life and the most important practice their English.
Due to COVID-19, 2020-2021 we put on halt a new project we were working on, and we had to convert our system in to a virtual lessons scenario supported by online platforms, for most of our students. Nonetheless 2022 will bring us the opportunity for cultural exchange through blended learning and online platforms. We have partnered with a strong ally this year that will support and collaborate on our joint project to amplify and bring to life our schooling program.
This 2022, we have reduced the number of students in each class to just 6. Also, there will be face to face and one hour online, with the whole class.
This blended learning is a good solution to allow us to continue our teaching while protecting people from the virus that still exists!

Becoming a volunteer in our School of English is both; easy and rewarding. You can contribute on a wide range of the volunteer’s interests, talents, skills, and knowledge. There are opportunities for our volunteers to work in every and any aspect of the school; whether it is teaching children and helping them with their homework, playing a game, sharing and enjoying some meals, by simply sharing your time, experiences and knowledge with them you are making a difference in their lives.
We need your help at:
• Teaching English
• Creating activities for kids
• To improve student’s English Skills, sharing experiences
• To publicize our school and city as a place for volunteering
The voracious need this School of English has to seek and learn about English – is both awe-inspiring and humbling. Volunteering with this school will give you an intimate insight into a new and exciting world. A world where people from our different schools are a privilege and a gift, where we will do the best for looking after you as a volunteer, and where you can change the lives of people and children just by being with us/them.

Our 3 main objectives in our school and life are:
Language, language and language.
It's the main tool and skill we work with our students and volunteers, since it's the bridge that will connect our community with your life experiences and background.
Location Background
The volunteer is based in Taltal city for school year and in Antofagasta city for summer camp and a special program.
Taltal is a city/town with a small population in the North of Chile
All the volunteers will stay in a basic house with all they need:
- A share bedroom with another volunteer
- Breakfast & Lunch, from Monday to Friday (Except holidays)
- Living room
- Kitchen
- Hot water
- Some other services (as Internet) are not confirmed yet, but we are working on it.
This is a small project and we provide for FREE to all our volunteers, accommodation, breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday.
No fees apply to the volunteers.
The only thing we ask for volunteers it's a minimum of four weeks (1 month) staying with us.
SOMETIMES (Depend of the case) we provide bus ticket, from the closest city.
